it's for workout

I got this DVD version because my VCR version is no longer playable since I've lost my VCR. I got this because a group of young women I mentor really wanted to try out "Richard Simmons". They couldn't believe anyone actually worked out with him for real. Well 30 years ago, I did. We put the DVD in for an activity and started working out. The girls and I giggled through the whole thing but also started to sweat. You do get a workout. Everyone had their favorite "cast" member. Richard is upbeat and encouraging. He has real sized people working out with him. Not sure about some of their workout wear or the motorcycle on stage but, hey, it's Richard Simmons. I like to workout at home as opposed to going to a gym. This DVD is one of many exercise DVD's I have to keep it fresh. For a fun workout, try it. For a constant workout, it might get a little overbearing.

I thought I bought this and another Simmons did from Amazon but my brother must have bought it for me so I can't verify purchase. My mom (51) and I (30) have been working out to this video for four weeks now. When I started I weighed 365 and my mom weighed 230. We didn't complete the video the few times we worked out and not all the steps were right but we felt that as long as we were moving and having fun, that is all that mattered. We were doing this video and another video of his on alternate days. We finally made it to the end of both videos. Still not perfect but still having fun. This is our fourth week and we've bumped up our work out to add another Simmons video to the mix. So we do the third video on top of the two we alternate. So far we've done that only two days. Lol but we're going to stick to it. I now weigh 350 and my mom weighs 220. I know, not miracle weight loss but it's going down and that's what counts.The video we alternate with is Party off the Pounds. The video we've added to the mix is 60's Blast Off.What we love is not only all the shapes and sizes of the people exercises but also their energy. I mean whether or not they are paid to be in the videos or if the video isn't done all in one shot, it's refreshing to see everyone smiling and/or singing to the music. It's important because even when we're getting serious it will close up on someone and we have no choice but to smile.It did bother me though that there was a lady who was in the video in the beginning, disappeared and was replaced by another lady who was not at the beginning. They both show up at the dance off at the end though.

I remember doing this video as a kid. It's amazing how the moves stick with you. Love the music and positivity! It's a good, fun workout too!

OMG!!!! I LOVE YOU RICHARD SIMMONS!!!!! OKAY, OKAY!!!! Let me start out by saying that the volume was to low for me, I mean, you can hear sit, but I wanted to blast this hahaha. I wanted to give this 4 stars because the volume wasn't loud enough for me, but it IS loud enough to hear regularly. OK, Richard Simmons personality is so beautiful, it will make a depressed person smile!!! His workout partners come in all Races and Weight Sizes, so it will make ALL weight sizes of people feel comfortable. I haven't worked out in years and I have severe knee, hand and back problems and I was able to move with him; I wasn't able to do all of the exercises, but for the most part, I was able to get moving and it was so much FUN!! The music and Richard's personality made me feel like a little girl again LOL! I will be doing this in the morn and at night and let me say that I was choked with tears at the end when they did the soul train line and told how much weight everyone lost!! Some were just starting out and others didn't have a weight problem! I loved the ending!! I LOVE RICHARD SIMMONS SO MUCH AND I'M SO GLAD I PURCHASED THIS AND I WILL BE PURCHASING MORE OF HIS DVD'S!!!!!

This is hysterical to watch and do, the 80's hair and the clothes and Richard's animation are all fun. The moves are repeated enough times in a row to make it fairly easy to follow. There are breaks of a few seconds between songs, helpful if you need to catch your breath, and there are also two spots where everyone stops to march in place and check their heart rates with a timer on the screen. Nothing too hard for beginners, and you can certainly make this less or more intense simply by varying how high you lift your legs, whether you jump or not, etc. Many of the folks who are working out with Richard in the video actually lost weight using his program, and at the end, they all get to dance up to the camera while their names and how much they've lost appears on screen, which is quite inspirational. I owned the VHS version after my daughter was born and it helped me lose a good amount of weight, so I purchased the DVD recently because I knew I would be able to do the moves, unlike some other videos I've tried which were just too intense to start with. Definitely a worthwhile purchase!

What can you say, it's Richard Simmons, Sweatin' to the oldies? I used the VHS tape years ago and loved it, then got thinking about it recently, came on here and managed to find a copy of the DVD. It's just as much fun as it was all those years ago. Excellent for those who can't keep up with intense work outs. You definitely get a sweat going but it's not overwhelming.

I love this program and have sweated to the oldies with Richard since he first produced this video.He motivates me and I really have fun working out to rocking tunes.

You can't beat the classics. This video provides a fun workout, especially if you're working out with friends who can appreciate old school cheeziness.
