A sturdy product, easy to clean
This is an excellent product. I bought one to put next to my tub, and was so happy with that that I bought another to put inside. The brushed stainless will be easy to keep clean, and the strength is excellent. Of course the grab bars in place will be no stronger than the mounting, which of course is a separate need that will vary from one place to another. The availability of the SecureMount anchors was a key in my decision to go with this brand. I had no problems with installation; I have considerable experience in home building and in drilling masonry. I do believe that a workmanlike job of putting them in requires a moderate level of skill and experience, beyond that of an average homeowner.

VERY strong, properly mounted
When my wife was scheduled for knee replacement surgery, I started looking into grab bars ... and finding a zillion brands, finishes, types, shapes, etc. After considering some of the fancier and FAR more expensive options, I came to my senses and focused first on specifications, namely, tubing wall thickness, welds, and attachment plates (flanges). The Moen bars are really basic, but the specs are decent, it's a brand name bar, and they were returnable if I didn't like them when they showed up. I ordered them and they are just fine. What I didn't want to do - with any brand bar - was try to blindly attach them to studs. I do a lot of home improvement work and I can pretty reliably find studs with a finder and occasionally a magnet, but I also didn't want to risk placing a critical screw too close to an edge or into a weak spot in the stud, like a loose knot, and there was no way I was going to use drywall anchors for something so critical. Finally, I found by reading descriptions and instructions that the flanges for almost all grab bars are circular. While that offer a lot of options for screw placement, their sizes are such that most will only accommodate 1 or 2 screws per plate, the other available holes not being over the stud, which wasn't comforting. So, I opened the walls, installed blocking between the studs, patched, and installed the bars with 3 heavy gauge construction screws in each flange - checking first to ensure that the flange cover would fit over the screw heads. The bars are solid as a rock. The flange welds would probably fail before the screws or blocking would. There is no wobble, no hint of movement whatsoever, no matter how much you push or pull. I'm happy. My wife is happy. They look good. Plus they eliminated a couple of extraneous towel bars and hooks as I bought 36" bars so as to serve double duty. One is always bare, the one on the opposite wall has a few items on the far end that isn't actually used for grabbing.

A confidence grabber
This Moen grab bar is well-made. Testing with a simple magnetic stud finder, I discovered the stud spacing was 18", so that's the bar I got for horizontal placement in the shower stall. Cutting holes through ceramic tile was something I had done before with a diamond drill. Four precise holes later, I installed the bar with the screws provided. I think I could stand on it and jump up and down; it is so strong and well-attached. The brushed stainless looks great, too.

Nice Moen grab bar but the screws suck!
This shower grab bar is well made but the screws that came with it had a nice head but a very small Phillips screw pattern and a couple of them stripped out on me while I was screwing them in. Stainless screws are soft anyway but if they had put a larger and deeper Phillips head pattern on them they would hold up better when screwing them in. I removed the screws that the old grab bar had. They had a smaller head on them but a bigger Phillips head pattern and I had no problem with them stripping out on me. I would have used the old screws instead of the ones that came with the Moen Grab bar if I could get the stripped out screws out of the wall. If I ever have to replace this grab bar I will have to grind the heads off the screws. Simple things like this can make jobs like this so much easier.

This handrail makes the stairs so much safer.
We have installed several of these previously. We bought this from the Amazon Warehouse, probably someone's return. It was, however, perfect and had all the parts. It was used as a handrail for the stairs leading to our garage door. Basically, lining it up with the angle of the stairs, we hit the studs; no additional mounting attachment/anchors were needed. We bought a stud finder to make sure we would hit the stud. It was close, but it worked. You get very long skrews and the mounting plate is somewhat adjustable. If you can't hit the stud, Moen sells mounting anchors that work but cost from $17-$23 each (Pre-tarriff it was $10). This handrail makes the stairs so much safer, esp when carrying stuff.

Love These Things
This is a very sturdy grab bar. We have three of them in our bathroom: one in front of the toilet and two in the walk-in shower. They are very handy and give a feeling of security, especially for family member with Parkinson's disease.
