Yes they smudge, but are also high quality for writing.
For reference, the photos were taken on 1x apple Iphone quality and 0.5x, one in direct sunlight the other not. Also, I am not left handed or ambidextrous. Lastly, written on Mead paper. These pens were so amazing at first glance. They advertise their clips- which work so well, and the pens look amazing. I was so impressed by the colors and the elegant 0.5 tip when writing. But, I was slightly disappointed when doing the smudge test. Some were better than others but I was surprised to see red did the worst, seeing as it’s a favorite of mine. These pens are such high quality though, you wouldn’t even suspect they had a smudging problem. The click is satisfying and the pens weigh a bit in your hand giving it that richer feel. The pens on the outside are thicker and have a rubber grip which makes writing feel effortless, and the color match is remarkable. Also it’s not the kind of pen to feel heavy after a while* -for my earlier remark. I am happy to own these pens but disappointed this comes with a side of caution because of the poor drying aspect. Oh, and I used the S • Gel Sharpie pen as reference to an actual non smudge pen. I give these a 9.5/10 rating (unlike the pens)

Smooth and pretty writing
I've had these over a year, I LOVE them! They wrote very smoothly and are perfect to use as a nurse. I use two colors a day, and the colors stand out and are so pretty. My handwriting is smaller and prettier and it makes me feel cute :) I've tried several different brands (people have given me some) but this is my favorite and as the pends wear out and I need to buy new ones I come back to these

Fine point pens for the win
I love these pens. I've always been someone who prefers ballpoint pens over gel pens but who these fine point gel pens appeared. It was over for me. I love the colors and value for what they give out. Great pen quality with a solid pen grip. When I write I do occasionally smear my writing and thats why I would stick to ballpoint pens but with these they dry pretty fast and dont excessively smear. If you want something different that is a fine point and offers an easy glide, try these pens.

Solid Pen, No smudging, good color payoff, left-handed writing approved!
I’m left handed and there was no smudging while I was writing. Ink streak is fine— faint streakiness, but it’s not super noticeable. Glides well. Comfortable to hold. Good color payoff. Added picture of the colors of the ones since they don’t have a good picture on the product description.

Most Excellent .5mm gel pens in 20 lovely colors
I will start by saying that my all time favorite clickable gel pens are the Pilot G2 0.7 and 1.0 mm pens. But I can't find a very wide variety of colors in the G2 0.5mm (10-pack is the most I've found so far). So when I saw this selection of 20 colors of Zebra Sarasa Clip Retractable Gel 0.5mm gel pens and saw that they got good reviews, I thought I'd give them a try. Well, I'm VERY happy I did. - The Zebra Sarasa doesn't have QUITE as smooth a writing touch as the .7mm G2's, but with a .5mm tip, I don't expect the pointier contact surface to feel exactly the same. And I don't find the difference in smoothness at all objectionable. My only remaining questions were a) the hues and saturation levels of the Zebra Sarasa Clip Retractable Gel color selection, b) how well the click/clips work, c) how they feel in the fingers when used and d) the ink quality (water-fastness, archival, etc.). I can speak to the first three, and the claims of Zebra say this is archival ink and water resistant, but I haven't had a chance to test that yet. - I've been spoiled (in a good way) by the 36 gorgeous colors of the Pilot G2 .7mm, so my first task with the Zebra Sarasa Clip Retractable Gel .5mm's was a writing and coloring test on some of my favorite papers. The .5mm Sarasas came through VERY well. Totally satisfied. See attached photo. I provided written and color-swatch samples to show both aspects of the ink's visual appearance on paper. - highly reliable clickers and clips are important to folks who use their pens frequently, and I'm finding the Sarasa clicker and clip work just as desired with no complaints. While the clicker design is different from the G2, they work very well on all the shirts and other surfaces I like to clip pens to (notebook spirals, etc.) and the click is both gratifying and stays in place (doesn't un-click like some flakier pens). - there's nothing more annoying than a pen that lays down a great line or color-swatch but feels awful in your fingers. The Sarasa .5mm feels just fine as I use it, with no complaints of any kind, plenty firm, no slipping, and very comfortable. I look forward to taking these pens out of their case every time the occasion arises.

Writes well
The darker colors write nice you have to wait a little so it doesn’t smudge. The lighter colors are a little bit harder to use you have to apply more pressure for the color to show. Overall the pens are light weight and good value for the variety of colors you get. My only complaint is that there’s no names on the color which pretty much every other product of this brand has which makes it easier to replace.

If they write poorly, switch to better paper
These pens are great, archival quality and they have beautiful opaque pastel colors that show up well on white or black paper and have a really nice sensation of feedback. Keep in mind, though, that they don’t work well on all papers. If you find that your pens seem overly scratchy or seem to be skipping and writing dryly, switch to a higher-quality paper and it’s almost guaranteed that they will work again like a dream. I was writing in a cheap notebook and they skipped horribly and felt like they were going to rip right through the paper, but I changed to a Peter Pauper Press journal and they wrote beautifully again. ALL of the Zebra Sarasa Clip gel pens (regardless of which product line they are; Vibrant/standard, Vintage, Milk, Decoshine) are like this - they can be famously finicky about paper quality.
