Why did you pick this product vs others?: Soft pastels easy to blend Quality: Excellent!!

One may be a bit shocked at the price of a set of Sennelier oil pastels if you're just first looking to break into the medium, but they're some of the best quality out there. The pastels are highly pigmented and effortlessly smooth to apply. It really is like essentially working with lipstick. They're just so incredibly soft, think of the texture of softened butter. Great to apply with a palette knife, interesting to try blending. The box they come in even feels high quality and the foam keeps them from getting all over the place. There's not as much as a "weird smell" compared to some other brands, which is nice. The landscape set has some very interesting colors.

After struggling with a student set of oil pastels, I decided to try the cream of the crop. What a difference! Sennelier oil pastels are so easy to use. They blend well, and they cover well. They're a joy to use.

These are incredible. It's literally like drawing with paint. The colors are incredibly vivid and rich, they apply beautifully (as I said, like paint) and if you invest a little bit of time in learning technique, finished products look like paint - with less time and frankly, a bit more fun. The pigments are also richer than most oil paints I've used, which is a plus. (You really can't get 24 high quality oil paint tubes for the price of this set). Overall, these are incredible and I highly recommend them. The only other oil pastel that truly gives them a run for their money is Holbein. Beautiful colors, easy application, compatible with paper, canvas, cardboard (really, anything you want to draw on), and a beautiful finished result make these pastels a must-have for a pastel artist. I would even recommend these for a beginner (as I was when I first used them). You'll learn more and ultimately do better with high-quality pastels versus student or mid grade.

I bought several different sets of oil pastels and these as well as the iridescent are my absolute favorite for landscapes. They are softer than I expected, almost like lipstick, but they blended oh so nicely and easy. Will definitely be buying more.

These are beautiful oil pastels. But...some of the pastel numbers do not match up to the chart in the booklet. #236 in my box is blue. On the chart, coral. A few others like that too. Regardless, I am keeping them because they are so amazing.

(I bought these pastels as a present for my grand-daughter, who's presently focusing on this medium. This is her response). I absolutely love the pastels, I sent a drawing (with my thank you card), but will email you some of the things I have drawn with them thus far. I am definitely going to take them with me to North Carolina and draw some of the landscapes there. The colour of the pastels are so beautiful and I absolutely love working with them, as I haven’t really used pastels for drawing in a few years.

This set has about 8 different shades of green, and that's great for landscape. But I was disappointed in the array of color choices after that. Most of the colors are very muted so for any flowers (other than the beautiful bright red) you don't have much of an option. I got these to try out the Sennelier brand of oil pastels. They are creamy, but if I were you, I'd got with a bigger set that has more variation.

I bought these as a gift for a friend who specializes in oil pastel works, and they loved the quality!
