MP Series MP-150 & MP-150H Replacement Stylus JN-P150

At $149 this stylus isn’t exactly cheap, but it’s much more affordable than getting it with the MP150 cartridge body and head-shell, which will run you in the mid $400’s. I personally love the warm sound of the MP110. However, I wanted a bit more clarity, so I did in fact fork out $400+ to get the MP150+cartridge+headshell. Soon after I got it, I realized that the output of the MP150 cartridge is slightly lower than that of the MP110 and to my ears that slight difference was noticeable. I also had lots of distortion despite correct setup of the turntable. So, I returned that combo and decided to just get the MP150 stylus and continue using the MP110 cartridge. They are completely compatible and to my ears this is the best of the both worlds (clarity and detail of MP150 + warm soothing sound of MP110). I’ve read that this doesn’t deliver the full potential of the MP150 since the cartridge is that of the 110. But after comparing both, I prefer this setup over the MP150 stylus & cartridge body. Not only it sounds better, it also saves you lots of $$$. Personally, if you have the MP110 and you like it, upgrading the stylus alone will make a major improvement in sound quality without the need to change the cartridge body!

The suspension collapsed on the 150 and had to find a replacement for it as i very much enjoyed the sound. Found this one here, nice price and quick shipping and voila! I am back with good sounding tunes!

Seems expensive for small threads of metal, diamond chip and a little plastic box, but it tops off a high end system and completed a chain of sound integrity. Great sounds start with the source. Each component in the chain must be up to its task through to output in order to complete a high definition experience.

I really forgot how great this sounds! My stylus was so worn. It wasn’t sounding its best to say the least. I finally had to get a replacement. After over 60+ hours of listening, I’m hearing a more open soundstage, bass opened up quite a bit, better separation. I’m overall very pleased.

Sound quality is far superior than other cartridges in it's class, but the stylus just doesn't seem to last very long before going bad - a disappointment for the price!
