The heart of the ProDI is a custom wound Radial transformer. It features an exceptionally high 140kΩ input impedance to reduce loading while enabling the ProDI to handle extreme signal levels at all frequencies without distortion. This is further improved upon with an internal mu-metal shield to protect against electromagnetic fields that can cause unshielded transformers to distort. This compact direct box begins with 14-gauge steel I-beam skeleton for added rigidity and Radial's unique book-end design that creates a protective zone around switches and connectors. **Q: I have a radial pro48 active di. my interface gets too much signal out of it. will prodi send less? my pickups r active**
A: A common rule of thumb is to use an Active DI with a Passive Bass and a Passive DI with an Active Bass.  That allows the passive DI to handle the active bass hotter signal and the active DI to bump up the level from a passive bass.

**Q: Could this di be used to plug my electric drum set into my system?**
A: If your electric drums have a 1/4" output and your "system" has XLR input (just like my drums and mixer do) then the answer is YES.

**Q: Is this box good for electric guitar like fender stratocaster**
A: very good di, but it is a passive box. your guitar needs to send a line level signal into this di. I've connected this di from the output of a guitar amp or effects foot rack.

**Q: is this the one i need for active guitar pickups with a battery? emgs**
A: It should work with both passive and active pickup systems that use batteries.  I use it with both Fishman and L.R. Baggs systems.
