Great sunscreen
I love this sunscreen! It is free of toxic chemicals (which is a huge plus!) but it also works perfectly for delicate little faces. This lotion protects better than others (like Aveeno for instance). It goes on thick, so you can see where you are putting it on and you can be sure you're not going to miss a spot. Make sure you rub it in well otherwise, it will in fact leave a whitish residue. The smell is not fishy at all - it is closer to a citronella fragrance. Not absolutely delightful, but not unpleasant either. I absolutely recommend this product.

Hypoallergenic for reals
My toddler son has extremely sensitive skin and Coppertone Waterbabies made him break out in hives upon the first application of the summer :( A little online research sent me looking for California Baby and I ordered it from Amazon. It works great, provides great sun protection, is made of natural products, and absolutely no allergic reaction at all. The price is the downside of this product - $22 for such a small tube! But better than the $30 Target charges and I need the good stuff to protect my baby's skin.

Better than typical sunscreens and safer for you
We read a lot of info about sunscreens - I fish in the tropics all the time and as a result need good sunscreen to avoid excess UVA and UVB. Our research (check the web) showed that many of the popular sunblocks you by in big retailers have ingredients that may not be very healthy for you and we tried ones that had few or no questionable ingredients. Eventually we tried this sunblock and even though it's SPF30 it blocks sun, as far as I can tell, as well as some of the namebrands like Coppertone Sport 70 and 100 SPF sunscreens. We use this on our toddler and it works great. Only negative is like any sunscreen that uses titanium dioxide as the primary ingredient, your face will be pasty white upon first application until you rub it in. The positive is this type of sunscreen actually blocks both UVA *and* UVB whereas popular sunscreens only block - most only block UVB.

smooth even coverage that lasts for hours
I climb mountains, so my skin gets the maximum possible exposure to the sun (direct, high altitudes = less atmospheric protection, and reflection off the snow from below). I purchased this and three other highly rated sunscreens. The others are zinc or titanium oxide based. All do a fairly good job of protecting my skin. The big difference, and why this one wins out over the others is the smoothness of application. The others are rather 'stiff', and require a fair bit of working in to get good coverage and no white spots. I always end up coming home with a spot or two that got missed (elbows, back of the arm, etc) and are bright pink. Not to mention the white stains on my shirts. With this sunscreen, it goes on smoothly, lasts the 3-5 hours between applications (may last longer, but I don't even try), and I don't have sensitive pink spots in out of the way places.

The only sunblock I'll ever use on my children
We spent a week in the blazing sun at the beach and my fair skinned children didn't even blush thanks to this lotion. It is thick but easy to apply all over their little selves. They had a slight whitish tinge to their skin until it absorbed. However, they played in the full sun and water for several hours everyday and did not burn in the least. In fact, they both came home with tans. This company was one of just a few that passed the Environmental World Groups study of sunblocks. It is completely safe for children. The company has also signed the "Compact for Safe Cosmetics" so you can feel very good about buying their products. The lotion (not the unscented) has a lovely, citrusy aroma that we all liked, too.

Lemongrass smell, but works great!
This one smells of lemongrass and is a bit too strong for me. The smell doesnt seem to bother my daughter tho, only me. This sunscreen is sensitive and doesnt harm baby, but Im not a fan of it. If your only concern is coverage then this is a great product to use. It lasts a good while and its best to always reapply after swimming or 2-3 hours. Even though Im not too fond of the smell, I have used it on many occasions bc it does the job.!

I've this for 3 straight summers now...
...and it works great. My kids are in and out of the water and they have yet to burn. It smells great and rubs in better than any of the other natural sunscreens. Trust me, I've tried several. At one point I was concerned about nano particles and called the company and they assured me that although it doesn't state it, California Baby does not use nano technology. We've been really happy with the many California Baby products that we've tried and the sunscreen is no exception. The only drawback is the price; I would consider it to be very expensive for a sunscreen, especially if you're having to cover entire bodies at the beach. I think it's worth it, so we keep buying it, but the price makes it border on cost-prohibitive for me.
