Best can opener I have ever had. 8 years and going strong
I have had this can opener over 8 years. Still sharp. No rust. No cracks in the plastic. I even have it in some Airbnbs. And people ask me for the link. Best can opener I have ever had. Like the feature that allows it to lock onto the can. Magnet to lift lid after open. Fits in a standard size top drawer.

Easy to use
Fantastic! Easy to use, no problems turning it. Locks on nicely. Not at all like the old heavy ones. So much better. Large handle for easy gripping. Locks on automatically. Rinse off for cleaning purposes. Love it. I use it now more than I do my electric one.

Opens cans and has a magnet
After my decade old can opener decided it was going to start getting stuck, I bought this one. After getting through the packaging, which wasn't that hard but I can't imagine falls under Amazon's frustration-free packaging program as it requires scissors, I recruited my cats to help me with my first use with a can of tuna. They were confused at first because one of the ways they know tuna is coming is by the familiar clank of the old metal opener but this one didn't clank, but snapped, as I hit the handle release button. Once I grabbed their bowls though, they understood and got happily on board. Now with two, suddenly-starving, hobo-kitties teaming up to headbutt both the tuna can and the can opener out of my hand, I pressed down the handle and the metal sank easily into the side as the handle locked on with a snap. It was satisfying. Upon the first turn of the crank, I noticed it was far smoother than the old red-handled one I have been using. In fact, it was just smooth. I did have in my head that it would somehow go through with almost no resistance and I have to say that there was some but overall it was pretty easy. After making it the full 360 degrees around and skillfully avoiding having it knocked out of my hand by two very determined but not very helpful kitties, I wondered how this magnetic lid remover was going to work. So I unlocked the handle and removed the can opener but to my surprise, the lid didn't come off. After further inspection, I realized the magnet isn't part of the cutting mechanism and is instead on a different surface. I snapped the magnet to the lid and it stuck right to it. It worked, but it was a bit awkward and I got tuna water on the crank. I have to say, it was probably 50% easier than taking it out by hand but putting that in context, removing a can lid without a magnet is a pretty simple task so even though it was helpful, I'd rate it more of a gimmick for anyone with enough dexterity to open a can with a manual opener in the first place. Since its an easy feature to miss, I'll probably smugly show it to my girlfriend just to cement my place as knowing about more useless things than she does, we'll talk about it for 10 seconds and neither of us will think about using it again. After rinsing it off and putting it in the drawer where the old one lived, I noticed it takes up a lot more space but it still fits. Now I sit and listen to two hobo-kitties happily shlurp and shlomp and chomp their participation reward while I finish up this review. 4 stars.

Works great and easily.
Works as described very easy to turn. What I love about it is the magnet that picks up the lid.

Easy to use, but disappointed
After using my sister-in-laws can opener I was anxious to get one of my own. Opener works great in the beginning, but does not cut at the very end allowing me to remove the can lid safely.

Still an edge
While it does a good job, no slippage, no starting over, it still leaves a sharp edge on the removed lid. Be careful

This is sturdy, comfortable in my hand, locks in place, and compact in size. The little magnet doohickey at the bottom that is supposed to lift out any lids that are cut off completely is almost NEVER used, but when I have used it, it has worked ok - not 100% of the time, as I think the magnet is not that strong. But, I hate the standard can openers because my hands are rather small and I find the ones that are thin coated metal or all metal are very difficult to handle for me because they HURT my hands terribly. the Zyliss one has been the go to for me for the last several years because it is easy and comfortable and the locking mechanism is perfect. I have three not because any of them broke, but because I have two at home, and one for the cottage. Actually, it was 4 - but the mother in law got rid of one, because she thought it was extraneous at the cottage and kept the old style metal one that hurts my hand. But they tend to pick up fast food and stuff when going to the cottage and really, I am the one that does actual cooking - so the good utensils no get kept with our stuff separately. If you have small hands, or losing grip strength, this can opener is fantastic.

Move over, flimsy tin torturers—the Zyliss Lock N' Lift Can Opener has arrived, and it’s easily the best can opener in the world. By far. At this price? It’s practically a steal. This little gadget is a game-changer. The locking mechanism is smooth and secure, the ergonomic handle is a joy to hold, and the magnet lid lifter? Absolute genius—it spares you from playing "hot potato" with sharp-edged lids. It makes quick work of even the most stubborn cans, with no slipping, no struggling, and no swearing. For a tool so simple, it brings an unexpected level of joy to the mundane task of opening cans. It’s sturdy, stylish, and works flawlessly every time. Honestly, I don’t know why I didn’t get one sooner. Five stars—because it does its job so well, it’s elevated to a kitchen MVP. The best can opener out there, and your future self will thank you for buying it.
