Will it work for mountain bikes?

Yes, of course it will work with a mountain bike. Just pull up harder as you take off so you don't land on your front wheel first. You got this!

Can you bolt two of these together to make it wider?

I believe so it looks like it. If u go out and get different bolts for the inside longer ones to connect them it looks very easy to do I have 1 and love it.

I'm 220 lbs and I've used it a hundred or so times and it has not shown any signs that it will break. Looks almost exactly how it did when I put it together except the tires marks all of it. Solid metal build, pretty heavy too.
