Organic Appliqué: Creative Hand-Stitching Ideas and Techniques

I love this book for its bright & numerous quilt patterns (8 exactly), but most of all this book explains what I feel is the best form of appliqué -needle turn. The book also mentions other types of appliqué. Kathy Doughty, the author, is known for her bold fabric choices in her quilts and the appliqué that enhances her quilt work & she is known for her fabric store in Sydney, Material Obsession . The book shares lots of photos, it is well written & has many how to instructions with photo references, patterns, templates and more. This book is for intermediate level quilters I would say, but a beginner will find that if They follow instructions There won’t be problem. The instructions are very easy to read and easy work from. This book is a must have for any fiber artist/quilt maker/appliqué artist or If you simply need more inspiration choose this book! I loved this book so much I ordered her other books immediately! I will refer to this book over and over, therefore, I am happy to give it 5 stars! I’m happy to add this book to my library! And the photos of the beautiful bright quilts are like a feast for the eyes and you can’t help but be inspired!

I can look at this book over and over and never get tired of it. I am trying to branch out with using brighter colors and boldly patterned fabrics. The projects and stories in the book are so interesting! Highly recommend this book and artist!!

Very inspiring quilt book. Instructions are easy to follow.

I am taking a class by the author and was having trouble visualizing what fabrics would be good choices. So the pictures helped with that. It also has templates for flowers and animals you might want to appliqué on to your quilt. I would recommend it. I have just ordered a couple more of her books.

Kathy Doughtys books are always wonderful. Such creative ideas. Her directions are easy to follow. I like to use quilting books as inspiration and I found pleanty in .Organic Applique

What's not to love? If you have never tried Kathy's "style" - get out of your slump, groove, whatever - and work outside the box! It's a "freedom" thing - embrace it!

Kathy’s Organic Quilting is a feast of knowledge, technique, and inspiration. I couldn’t be more please with the purchase and intend to investigate her other offerings as well.

The quilts as made are too busy for my taste (my eyes like a like a place to rest now and then) but the instructions are clear and the designs are easily adaptable to other fabrics. Good book.

Lovely book, just what it says & great for me as an intermediate crafter

This inspirational book gives you everything you need to know to make either one of Kathy’s quilts or even to design your own. Although if you are a total beginner I would still recommend a class but this could be your text book.
