Don't buy.
Just doesn't work. Checked the HDMI, VGA, and mini connectors on other equipment and they all worked just fine. Do not recommend buying this, it is a waste of money.

I was able to use this converter to connect my old desktop with VGA port to my new Dell monitor with HDMI port.

Does NOT work on POST, only once OS is loaded
I bought it hoping to use it on my servers because all they have is VGA and would be nice to prep them in my office where I have HDMI TV/Monitors... Hooked it up and nothing, tried different servers, tried different monitors/tv's, nothing. Finally once I had OS loaded it showed a picture. I need it to work so I can change BIOS settings and to boot into OS installers not after OS is installed.
