Once you get into the hobby, you will want to add more curves and straights to your your track since most sets come with relatively short track length. The only downside is that extra track parts from Carrera are pretty expensive - I'd say almost unreasonably expensive. I suppose they follow the "Gillette" model to subsidize the starter kit (I doubt they are actually subsidized) and profit on the extras. Still... you will want to add to your track length.
