Review: Great knife just cheap sheath. - The knife is made of good materials, and is well balanced. I have no issues with the knife, just cheap sheath. The knife actually poked through the end asap, but was easy to fix and the strap was same way. Did not care much of the quality of the sheath so this was never a problem. The Knife on the other hand is great for clean tall brush and small shrubs. It is even better for my urban travels when someone thinks pulling a small knife is a good idea. This is a perfect attitude adjuster and quit intimidating. I think you would be satisfied with it as long as your not trying to cut down trees.
Review: GOOD FOR BACKPACKING OR BACKWOODS CAMPING - I do a lot of backpacking where I hike in several miles and camp. When you do that weight is extremely important. You have to reduce your load as much as possible to cover a lot of ground. For that purpose, this machete is great. It's a super lightweight (~ 14.5 ounce) cutting tool that works extremely well for gathering wood, clearing a path, and possible self-defense. Through trial and error, it has beaten out much more expensive options, largely because it is just so light weight and versatile. I've learned a great deal about knife design, types of steel, methods for hardening, etc. So don't get me wrong, this is NOT a top of the line item. I would love to have the quality and reliability of 1095 chro-van steel like a Ka-Bar Becker or ESEE knife. But similar items by other companies are twice the weight and don't have the bowie-style sharp tip for self-defense (plus are 4x the price). PROS: - Light (14.5 ounces) weighed on accurate scale - Durable enough for hard use - Cheap CONS: - Questionable steel quality. - Handle sucks (after a couple hours use, I had to wrap it in a bandana to continue using it. Expect to mack a handle out of tape, tennis racquet grip, etc.) - Sheath sucks. After a few days the tip started poking out of the bottom. I fixed this by folding a small piece of leather and sticking it inside the sheath at the bottom. Expect to reinforce the bottom if you are really going to use this thing.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: How much 550 Paracord is needed to replace the wrapped handle? Would 25' be enough?**
A: I'd say it depends on your wrapping method when you weave your grip but the handle itself is basically just the tang. Its fairly short (not more than a palm) and it's basically the thickness and width of the blade. You might want to test out your chord as well because the machete's smooth finish might cause your grip to slip unless you have a nice tight knotting. Although potentially gunky, you might also want to consider cutting a base of tennis racket grip foam tape and then wrapping that if you plan on wielding the blade in sweeping continuous movements, rather than controlled single swipes. Mine has just the chord it came with and it feels pretty good. I've also been sharpening the blade considerably to keep a fine edge.

**Q: Why is there a hole?**
A: To hang it up i assume. That's what I use it for when not in use

**Q: Why is there a hole?**
A: I think they just designed it that way. There isn't any specific reason for it having a hole.

**Q: does it come with a fire striker**
A: Mine didn't come with one. So, I don't think it does

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Awesome value!!!!
*by B***E on October 25, 2012*

I bought the Tomahawk Ninja machete for quick brush cleanup, hiking, hunting, camping etc. The machete seems pretty rugged with a heavy blade and a pretty good edge, good length too. The sheath is better then what I looked at in Walmart machetes. Its a great length for carrying on my side or over the shoulder although a little tight for me, I'm 6' with a 52" chest. The rope handle has a little to be desired however for the price you can easily get a peace of rawhide or better rope and customize the handle to your liking; that is what intrigued me with this specific machete. I disliked the cheap plastic handles that come with Walmart machetes. I am very pleased with this purchase. As for quality I will know better once I have used this for a while how well it holds up.
