A Little Bit of Mindfulness: An Introduction to Being Present (Little Bit Series) Review: Super helpful read and the whole series is phenomenal! I recommend! - I am in LOVE with this book. As you can see from one of my pictures, I have another one of the books from the series “a little bit of… “. I bought it last spring from target and I also bought the “a little bit of mindfulness” book but I gifted it to a friend. Fast forward to last week, I had regretted gifting my friend the book because I myself have been struggling with being mindful in my life and I had really been wanting to buy the book again but target isn’t selling it right now. Stressed and afraid that I was never gonna be able to get my hands on the book again, I was able to find the publisher on the cover of “a little bit of intuition” and through their website I found that they still manufacture this book and was delighted to see it being sold on desertcart. Shipping was really quick and the book came flaw free. The book is relatively small and quite thin, as it is only 103 pages of reading text. It’s perfect to bring on the go in a purse, tote bag, I enjoy taking it with me on the bus and reading it there. It’s perfect Review: Very good book - The best book I’ve read on mindfulness Lots of excellent resources identified

Stop and be.
It is so easy to get caught up in the race to get everything accomplished, to mark off your list. Add to your list, take a deep breath, look inward and relax. Get off of the hamster wheel in short increments until you can make it a regular practice. So worth it.

Consice, friendly, informative
One of my goals this year is a basic reset. A spiritual starting over of sorts. Part of that reset includes readjusting and realigning my own meditation and mindfulness practices, so I looked forward to this book (and Mercree’s other title) as part of my refresher course. Amy Leigh Mercree, the author not only of this book but also, “A Little Bit of Meditation: An Introduction to Mindfulness”, does a wonderful job of inviting the reader into a world of awareness. After a description of what mindfulness is, Mercree delves into the Hinduism and Buddhism roots of mindfulness and discusses how it has traversed over time into our present-day usage. Balancing the spiritual with science, Mercree then discusses several different scientific programs that are studying mindfulness and the effects it has on stress, managing emotions, relationships, the immune system and other areas. The science goes further to explain how mindfulness effects the output of hormones and other chemicals from the brain. Next Mercree explains several different types of mindfulness practices: • Mindful seeing • Loving-kindness meditation • Body scan meditation • Tonglen • Qigong • Tai Chi We are then given several different mindfulness meditations. • Walking mindfully • Drinking and eating mindfully • Emotional calm meditation • Watching the breath • Watching the mind • Mindful relationships • Mindful Dharma This book by Mercree was uplifting and encouraging while also being informative. She rights in a friendly, conversational manner and doesn’t speak down to or above the reader. Definitely one of my favorites from the Little Bit Series.
