Best portable french press. I've tried them all. Good size, easy to use, makes excellent coffee and keeps coffee warm. Don't pay extra for coffee snob appeal. Suggestion - A mug handle option would be helpful.

I had a Koerig for about a year, convenient as all get out but.. I enjoy light roast coffee, the benefits can be debated. Regardless the Koerig started pooping out, the water was no longer heating properly even after it was descaled. Initially as an emergency back-up I pulled out the Staney Brewer. Holy cow I forgot what a good cup of coffee tasted like! I always viewed a French Press a bit of a waste, I never drank all the coffee the pot produced before it cooled off. Almost by mistake I found IMO the best single cup brewer I have ever used. Works as quickly as the Koerig when coupled with and electric hot water pot and YOU can adjust the coffe to fit your mood. The Stanley is bulletproof, solid metal construction, clean-up isn't difficult and most important you will always have a hot cup 'o joe when ever you want. It's as thrifty with gound coffee as the Koerig as well.

Edit: Went over the insert again - there is a line indicating that component parts are not covered. There is however no label indicating which part is the component, and which is the main. So, from that wording, it's quite possible that only the screen (the plunger can be separated into two parts) is covered as it is what makes the item a French Press instead of just another tumbler. Surprisingly, the insert/manual is not available as a PDF - hopefully it's legible in my pic. Original: Stanley's claim that the press is dishwasher safe? Kinda - the lid has a set of gaskets that can be undone from the jets in your dishwasher. While one of the gaskets is large enough so that you'll probably still find it at the bottom at the end of the cycle, the center one that covers the dimple in the middle is small enough to simply get flushed down the drain. This is what happened to me... So, I reached out to Stanley figuring all they had to send me was a super tiny silicone gasket, but after speaking with Codolia N, they ended up sending an entirely new press. However, she said that this was an exception since the Lid was not covered under their lifetime warranty. I double checked the insert, and it doesn't mention anywhere that the lid is excluded from the warranty. It also doesn't specify that only the main body and plunger is dishwasher safe either. I'm giving a 5 star review because I got taken care of, but if you experience problems and happen to meet a not so great Stanley employee, then... good luck? Also - I'd hand wash the lid to avoid this issue entirely. Other than that - the press is pretty great and if you fill to just below the indicated line, you'll never have to deal with tidbits of coffee grounds in your pressed coffee. I'm not sure if other reviewers have mentioned this, but the internal press itself can be disassembled for better cleaning.

I am super impressed with the quality, durability, and ease of the Stanley portable French press thermos. You can literally make coffee anywhere as long as you have access to hot water. I have a plastic personal sized French press thermos like this but that will not hold heat. This keeps your coffee scalding hot even well beyond when you make it. I leave the lid off for a bit after I make a batch of coffee so I can let it cool down. Don’t plunge the coffee down like you’re the Hulk - be mindful as you extract the coffee to avoid any floating grinds. I haven’t had issues with it and have enjoyed each cup. Your coffee strength and flavor will benefit from using a teaspoon to measure and medium to courser grounds. Don’t use fine ground or you’ll have silty results. People that will love this: Busy people on the go with limited time to wait for coffee to brew. You literally add hot water to coffee grounds in the thermos and wait a couple minutes until you lower the plunger. For early mornings this is convenient. Campers that want to reduce packing the whole house on trips. For 1-2 people you can easily make coffee in minutes. Boil some water or use a power station with a mini hot water maker - mine is thermos form as well. This is perfectly designed for camping. You can also leave the coffee in the thermos once brewed and drink from this directly. It’s not too heavy and feels sturdy enough to withstand traveling and hikes. The metal clip allows for this to be clipped to backpacks etc. I definitely think this thermos is worth its weight in gold. More folks should know how incredibly convenient and efficient this Stanley French press is. This is one of the best things I’ve bought this year.

I really like Stanley products. They’re rugged, durable and I don’t think I’ll need to replace or update for a very long time. For me, buying items that are long lasting is important. I was disappointed that the three items I ordered were placed loose in a box for delivery. They arrived with a small dent and chips to the enamel. I’d intended to use the items myself at work so minor damage was ok for me. Had they been gifts I’d have probably asked for replacements.
