It’s never been big enough as the OS takes up about half the space leaving me, on a good day, with about 40gb for file storage. I do astrophotography which generates lots of huge files during processing and my solution had been to move projects to an external drive when I wanted to work on something else and then move them back. I kept thinking about getting a new MacBook but the cost was just too much. So I decided to try this 256gb SSD drive. The price was a lot more appealing than a new MacBook! It arrived with the SSD and the 2 screwdrivers needed to install it. The company’s web site had detailed instructions on how to install the SSD from start to finish including what to do if something goes wrong. It took me about 5 minutes to install the new SSD and then about 20 minutes to restore from my Time Machine backup. Everything went smoothly and without any trouble. Now I have about 180gb of free disk space! And while I’m not 100% sure it seems like my MacBook is running faster now. I'm always a little nervous cracking into my devices, but they provide the tools and instructions needed. ifixit.com has useful videos and pictures for the procedure as well. Performance was a little spotty at first (nothing to lose a rating star over), but downloading the regular system software updates and patches from App Store seemed to fix that and the transition from preinstalled High Sierra to Catalina was no sweat. Install all updates in Catalina and a good restart and it's good to go. Also runs Windows 10 over boot camp like a champ. I needed to upgrade or else I'd need to buy a new Mac. Received this and did a quick time machine backup on one of my external hard drives. Installed the new Feather SSD in about 2 minutes and did a restore. BOOM! I'm back in business! It came with two screw drivers to take the star screws out.
