Well this fit into my toaster oven

Ummmmm....measure the interior of your toaster oven???? LolYou must have MASSIVE toaster oven....cause I'm thinking no way in you know where that it's likely to fit....so I'm thinking "NO".

what makes it nonstick? If coated, exactly what is the coating? thanks

It is a silicone coating, so I would not use any heavy scrubbers on it. Great pan, I love mine, the loaves slide right off and it cleans up very easily with just hot water and a washcloth.

Can i use this pan for both proofing and baking or do i need to proof in a baker's couche first.

You can but you will likely get best results by using a couche first, then transferring to the pan maybe 10 minutes before baking. If you do the entire proof on the pan, you may not get the wonderfully balanced skin and texture that the couche gives you. Also, if your dough is very highly hydrated (75+) there's a chance it will stick after baking if it was sitting on the pan for so long, which can be a disaster so make sure you sprinkle semolina on first.

Is 450 degrees too hot for this pan?

I don't think so. I frequently exceed this temp in my electric oven when I bake my baguettes and the pans did just fine. Note however that the oven temp drops quickly when you open the oven to put the dough in and it might take the greater part of the 20 minutes of the baking time for the oven to rise up again to 450. So practically the pans are not exposed to the high temp for very long if at all, and I usually don't worry about it.
