I shower at 6am every morning. with this, some days I've woken up too late and didnt get a chance but it's still there. you can still smell it for roughly 38 hours, and that's included with busting a sweat shoveling snow because I had on too many layers. this is a wonderful. groundbreaking soap and I'm truly amazed from the risk I took getting it. i have absolutely no complaints other than the bottle size. the scent description is basically spot on. its not too earth. not too sweet. its... a warm scent, kinda. I've mixed it once with a sweet tobacco soap - quite a bit of that one, it's a much bigger bottle and doesnt really smell amazing but I've had wAY worse - and the 2-1 split with this being less was still just a hint of the sweet tobacco added in. for those with sensitive skin like me - I haven't witnessed any drying out or rashes/irritations from this. so far it's safe for me, hopefully it is for you, too. However, since I have a background in chemistry as part of my chemical engineering training, I tried to check into this. I do not see any reference to "free of sulfates" on the Pre de Province web site; this might be something added by the reseller. Normally, sulfates are not an issue. Some people are sensitive to sulfites that are used as a preservative in many products, including wines. Thus, products are sometimes labeled "free of sulfites", but the term "free of sulfates" would be unusual. Most people do not understand the chemical difference between sulfites and sulfates, so I suspect they meant sulfite free. Obviously the shower get does contain sulfates, but not sulfites. Sodium laureth sulfate, a shortened form of sodium lauryl ether sulfate, is a very common anionic detergent and surfactant that is found in many different liquid hand soaps, shampoos, shower gels, household cleaning products, and even toothpaste. It is an inexpensive cleansing agent and foaming agent. That is why it is so commonly used. Any detergent, including sodium laureth sulfate, can be an irritant to sensitive skin, especially the membranes of the eyes, nose and mouth. That is why babies cry when shampoo gets in their eyes. For most people, when used according to directions, sodium laureth sulfate does not pose a health issue. The scent is different, very masculine and stronger, really seems to cling to my skin well after my shower. My only issue has to do with some skin irritation under my arms, which the product does warn about very clearly on the back. This is easily overcome simply by using a little less in that area. My only real complaint besides the mild skin irritation when using certain amounts, is the amount of the product you get for your money, (hence my 4 star rating instead of 5). Edit December 5, 2021: If you like the scent of this body wash, go for Harry's body wash "Fig" scent. Get more for the money as well.
