Cable costs have really climbed. A friend says he pays over $200 a month and he neither has kids at home nor watches much TV himself. Go figure! Our bill is nowhere near that much but if I can lower the bill without sacrificing what we enjoy watching, I'm all for it so I grabbed TV Without Cable. This is a comprehensive handbook that gives you all the options to cable, the benefits and downside of each, and even some info on how to circumvent some of the challenges that some of the options present. Some of the info was a bit techie for me but my husband got it all ... looks like we'll soon be saying goodby to our cable network! Review: Very small book, limited information, very high level, no depth or detail - Very small book, at 32 pages. I covers very basic items, at a very high level. Gives some good pointers, on where to start, what you can do, where to get mor information. There's A LOT of items, and information missing though. Book is very limited, in what it provides. If you're looking for detail on, What is "streaming" vs other options (they cover streaming and streaming devices but, they don't define "What is streaming" first.), How do I get my news channels?, what do I pay for and what is free, how does this all work? That detail is not in this book.

Totally Possible!
To cut monthly costs, my boyfriend and I decided to get rid of our cable. I was disappointed because there are a lot of shows that I was going to miss. After I read this guide though, I was pretty much able to track down some form of streaming for all the shows that I want to watch. They definitely got their facts right when it comes to the prices of cable companies and the fact that you can survive without it. Well written and easy to follow. A little dry but gave me the info I needed.

Great book !
I loved this book, it was fact filled, information filled and relevant to everyone who watches Tv or is subscribed to a cable provider. This book shows us that we can save money , while being able to watch what we want , this is something that cannot be achieved with a cable provider. This book i awesome and provides a great way to save and still get the shows we would desire to watch. Great book. Say no to subscription and say yes to TV without cable!

You can do just fine without this book.
Nothing new here, I found it disappointing. He tells you to get his other books to get the real information you need.

I found the book readable and therefore understandable even for a non techie. It is however only an intro to the various methods he listed in this book as others follow to fully explain each of them, so be prepared to invest in further books to pursue this interest. If any reader wants to get out of the cable/dish trap but wants or needs to have TV available without the high cost then the investment in these books will be well worth it. I gave this book three stars but if I do pursue all the other books that could change as I view the whole series as parts of the whole so until I have read them all, this is the highest rating I think is appropriate.

Not good

Not quite what I thought I was buying. Rather too much teaching granny to suck eggs, from my POV, but may be an eye-opener for those sucked into expensive subscription services.

As I understand it, with non cable TV I cannot receive all broadcast stations in real time. I understand that the whole set-up relies on "streaming' but this is totally ineffectual for my purposes. I suppose it is OK for reruns of the Brady Bunch but not good enough for current news broadcasts.

I did order this product and it won't let me return. Please fix! Why do I have to give a star rating?
