There is substantial strength apparent in both the spring-powered retractor spool and the braided cord the meter hangs from to carry the weight of the meter. The spring tension is enough that the meter never drops down on its own, even while rapidly underway. The unit has a detachable plastic ring that bridges between the metal ring and the end of the cord. This might become a weak point after repeated use, since it is a simple two-prong squeeze release in a plastic socket. I may permanently attach the two pieces with epoxy. The cord length is adequate to extend for arm's reach to take a reading for manual film exposure. Recommended. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Hard to find but very useful *by R***T on February 18, 2012* This product can be very hard to find. I also paid a lot more than it is currently selling for. I use it to hold my GENUINE WhiBal G7 Certified Neutral White Balance Card - Pocket Card (2.1"x3.35") with a whibal quick release. I simply attach the two together and then attach the tether to either my Domke PhoTOGS Vest Large (Khaki) or my camera bag (Typically a Domke 700-02A F-2 Bag (Brown Waxwear Finish) for street shooting or a Domke F-832 Medium Photo Courier Bag (Brown RuggedWear) for back and forth to work). Build quality is excellent. However, realistically, any similar tether, without the Nikon logo would work.
