LOCTITE Threadlocker 277 is a high strength adhesive for locking and sealing large bolts and studs 1" (25mm) or larger in diameter. Heat may be required to weaken bond before parts can be disassembled. LOCTITE 277 is a red, high strength, high viscosity, methacrylate-based threadlocking adhesive. It has a fixture time on steel of 30 min, brass 25 min and stainless steel 270 min making it ideal for applications where migration of the adhesive must be prevented. Can tolerate slight contaminations of industrial oils. Suited to large threads. Fluoresces to allow monitoring. Perfect for temperatures between -65°F - 300°F (-54°C - 149°C). LOCTITE 277 is designed for the permanent locking and sealing of threaded fasteners. The product cures when confined in the absence of air between close fitting metal surfaces and prevents loosening and leakage from shock and vibration. TYPICAL APPLICATIONS include the locking and sealing of large bolts and studs (M25 and larger). GRADE ADHESION. This high-strength thread locker is tested to the lot requirements of Specification Mil-S-46163A. MIL-SPEC ( standard or -SPEC) adhesive are products that meet or exceed the US defense standard, a measure of quality set to standardize the expectations of all products supplied to the US . Each lot is also tested by the ASTM (American Society for Testing and Materials), a body of skilled personnel that specializes in testing materials and generating standards of quality.
