So far, it's been very easy to just clean off. I suppose it will last a couple of years before I need to replace it.

Will it pick up anything besides hair?

If you try to suck something (like dog hair) on a wood floor, the Bissell just blows the hair around the room. It only seemed to work well on a carpet.

They seem to just blow away the stuff I am trying to suction up. Any solution?

Have been using the vac for about a month and LOVE it - perhaps yours has a small crack or seal is defective. I would send it back for a new one. Definitely have not experienced that issue and my dog is a super-shedder. Sorry you're not getting good results from it! Definitely try again.... I think it is worth it. I wish I had found this item years ago.

We agree with others about the poor vent design, now does it have any better solution to figure out?

I read the comment and knew to put two plastic side covers (KeeTidy Wind Ear) on the vents to re-direct the air. They say they can work well.
