One great hose! The perfect addition!
Let's face it! The Big Buddy Heater is a TERRIFIC heater! On low settings, the small disposable gas bottles work fine. But if you need to crank up the heat and make use of the 18,000 BTU output, the gas in the small bottles will go quickly! The Answer? A larger gas bottle! Recommended size? a 20 lb. Now to get the gas from the bottle to the heater - safely! That's where this wonderful hose comes in! It has a quick disconnect on one end to connect easily to the Big Buddy Heater. That's right! Easily! I read some reviews about the heater that said the hose was hard to connect. I don't know, maybe they were trying o connect the hose with the small bottle also connected in place! It they did, that would, in deed, be difficult! But hey, disconnect the small bottles (if connected) and pull the sliding part of the hose connector back, shove it up onto the fitting on the heater and release the slide, pushing it up to ensure a solid connection. That's it! Connect the other easy connector to the gas bottle, hand tighten, turn on the gas and proceed with the lighting instructions for the heater! The 12 foot hose is long enough generally to place the bottle outside with the hose through a small opening in a window or door. You should have a bit of fresh air anyway! Enjoy the heat!

I love my big buddy heater
I love my big buddy heater! This hose works great! Buuuuttt....there are a few things that I figured out by trial and error that might help you if you are going to buy and use this hose. I like so many other people here have had trouble lighting their heater with this hose. It's not that there is something wrong with the hose, it's mainly because of the 12ft length and the fact that there is air trapped in the hose when it's not being used. Last time I checked air isn't flammable so what you need to do is purge the air from the hose before you connect it to the heater. Now what I'm about to tell you, the manufacturer probably can't tell you just because it could possibly be dangerous, but as long as you don't do anything stupid while doing this, ie. smoking or being near an open flame or wearing a static-y christmas sweater etc....if your not an idiot you should be fine. First connect your hose to the tank, turn the tank on, listen for the click of the safety device, take a pointy object, ie. pen, pocket screwdriver, nail, screw depress the plunger on the quick connector. Be careful as you do this because you will be releasing the trapped air and propane gas! Keep the plunger depressed for a few seconds, the smell of propane should go from slight to very pungent. Congratulations! The air in the hose has been purged! Connect your hose to your Buddy heater and light the pilot light as you normally would. It should fire up after a few tries. Now feel the HEAT! After using this hose reliably for a number of years...I ran into my first problem with it. After connecting everything and depressing the plunger I got no gas...! Puzzled I checked and rechecked the connections, just as I stated above I listened for the telltale click...and I didn't get one. I disconnected the "ACME" connector from the tank and found that the thermal safety bushing had broken off and fell out somewhere. For those of you that don't know what a thermal safety bushing is...it is a white plastic washer that melts and disconnects the propane tank from the hose if it catches on fire. So since my thermal safety bushing cracked off and fell out....try as I may, the gas would not flow out of the tank because the missing bushing was not allowing the nipple on the connector to depress the valve on the tank! Resulting in no gas flow! So I bought a replacement "ACME" connector here on Amazon Mr. Heater Propane Acme Nut X 1/4-Inch Male Pipe Thread, Black Slapped that baby on with some teflon tape and I was back in business! I didn't have to buy a new hose. I wasn't disappointed that the safety bushing broke...it happens. Iv'e had them break on other propane accessories as well, so I can't blame the company for that. I still give the product 5 stars! Well hopefully I can help at least 1 person with my experiences with the mr heater hose...so have a nice warm day!

Highly recommend this hose and heater combination!
I'm on my seventh witer using this hose with my Big Buddy heater to keep my uninsulated garage warm' and the hose has kept my heater performing just like new with no filter added. It has much more tan paid for itself in savings on filters and the time and effort to replace them. I am thuroughly satisfied and highly recommend this hose and heater combination!

Works great, once you get it connected!
It works perfectly, and the quick connection is solid. It takes a little doing to get it connected/disconnected (I cut my finger on the knuckle, taking it off; hence 4 stars) but with a little practice it should be fine. The only thing that puzzles me, is that Mr Heater makes another hose with a quick connection, which I bought, but had to return, because the male end wouldn’t work with the female end on this hose. The only reason I bought the other hose, was as a safety measure, in the event there was a problem with the heater ie: in case it started on fire (there’s pictures online), then I could disconnect the hose quickly, stopping the flow of gas, hopefully stopping the fire enough to get the heater outside of my shed. Sadly, the other hose isn’t compatible with this one and maybe it’s intended for something else entirely, and regulations for propane heaters require a different size. I don’t know of a reason why the sizes would need to be different, but then I’m not certified to work with propane. I would think making the quick connection parts the same size, would make producing the heaters/hoses more cost effective. Anyway, the hose works and it works well, just need to watch your fingers when disconnecting the hose.

works well with 20lb tanks
We purchased this to go along with our new Big Buddy heater ( which is fantastic) because Mr Heater recommends using only their hoses with their heater and with propane I'm not taking chances on any cheap knock off. Good quality hose with enough length that you can keep the tank outside or far enough away for safety. Just always remember to check the valve after attaching the hose for leaks with soapy water . So far I have not had any leak issue with the hose , but did discover a leak issue with an older tank thanks to this hose.

This quick connect hose works perfectly to attach a 20 gallon propane tank to a Mr. Heater Big Buddy heater. I originally ordered a knock off 12' hose and a Mr. Heater filter, but the 2 of them did not fit or work together so I had to return them both and then got this hose which doesn't need a filter and it works great. Would highly recommend it

Not much to say about it. It's easy to attach to the tank. It's easy to attach to the Big Buddy heater. And it works.

I occasionally work inside my garage to build devices for use with our kid's school science fair and I purchased a Mr. Big Buddy Heater to warm up the garage space in the cold winter months. However, the heater was very hungry for gas and the small cans would not last very long. I ordered this accessory to connect my gas heater to our propane tank and it worked very well. The hose stays flexible even at very low temps and I can run the heater for a week without having to replace the gas tanks, it saves me time and money. The fit is perfect too, it connects to the existing connector inside the Mr. Big Buddy Heater and the other end attaches to standard propane tank that I used with my BBQ.

Don't mess with your Mr Heater by using some piece of junk accessory from a discount hardware store. Get this one right from the manufacturer for piece of mind. And that way if there is a problem, there is no finger pointing between the maker of the heater and the hose. I paid $39.99 + free ship which I thought was fair. NOW I see it listed for $55.11 which is pushing it. Is that full list or what? I'd suggest anyone seeing prices like that to shop around or wait it to be marked down a bit. Stay warm!
