Great protection for your cat
It is great for flea control. The only side effect is that my cat keeps taking it off.

Works Well In Short Time
Within 30 minutes our beautiful Lucy stopped itching and scratching her ears. Best part? It lasts 7 months and no monkey business with drops that is licked off her fur when she cleans tidy herself.

Good price 4 a Flea collar w/ minimal packaging. It's breakaway; has No smells. Cat seems happy.
Great price. Used on the "community cat" who roams our neighborhood, and wanted it to be breakaway in case she gets herself into a tight spot. Nobody has taken it off, so I guess it is acceptable to all. I wanted it because sometimes the cat slips into our house when I'm getting a dish ready for her, and I didn't want to have to deal with fleas in our home. I've let strays in before (back when I was younger and had apartments) and ended up having to flea bomb the places, so I wasn't going to let that happen again. She seems to scratch at it, but I hope that means it's working. We haven't gotten fleas yet, and we've been more liberal about letting her in since the collar has been on, and the temps have dropped here in the midwest. Don't want the animal to freeze, but am still cautious about claiming her as ours, since we know she visits other "patrons" in the neighborhood. Glad to know it's got 7 month protection, since that will get us through to the summer. I didn't detect any smell to it, and it seems to be high quality with no side effects, since she has been back almost every day for her can of tuna. I'll write back and let you know if we get fleas in here, but so far as good. "A" quality product. Not intense packaging either. Very pleased.

Caused both of my cats severe hair loss and health problems in five days!
This review is for the specific product that I purchased, Hartz UltraGuard Flea & Tick Collar for Cats and Kittens. My complaint is with the product itself and not Amazon. I bought these collars for both of my cats and both of my dogs as a preventative measure. None of them showed signs of fleas or ticks but we have recently moved to a new state where there are stray cats out and about, along with a lot of other insects that were not at our old home and state. Both of my cats are inside cats, trained to be on leashes, walk, sleep and typically stay near us. However, we bought them because I do take my dogs outside and we feared our dogs catching fleas and bringing them into our cats. I purchased them on August 30, 2022 and received them on September 1, 2022. I put them on all of my animals as the package instructed. I left enough room for 1-2 fingers to fit under the collar to ensure they weren't too tight. In the few days after, we noticed that the cats had strong, foul smelling feces. More than usual. One of my cats vomited a few times but we didn't think much of it. Maybe the cats ate something when we didn't see them or something like that. I never thought that the collar would be the culprit (I still don't know if it is but it's a big coincidence). Until today, September 6, 2022. My cats came to lay with me and I noticed one had a large bald spot near his neck. The hair wasn't thin or thinning, it was completely bald. I then moved the collar and saw that it was completely bald under where the collar was. Additionally, parts of it were extremely red and raw while other parts looked dry like skin was flaking off. I checked the other cat and it was the same thing only not as bad. The hair underneath the collar of my other cat was gone as well but the skin didn't look as bad. I immediately removed the collars and wrote Hartz. I received an email very quickly from them which is a plus I guess. I called the number in the email and eventually spoke to a poison control center that they forwarded me to. They in turn said that they share my report and finding not only with the company Hartz, but a report will be generated to the Environmental Protection Agency. My dogs seem ok but I will remove the collars from them too as a precaution. The poison control center gave me a direct number to reach them at 24/7 in case anything else develops or doesn't get better. Unfortunately as stated above, I just moved to a new state with my family, tens of thousands of dollars to attend an internship at a hospital here that is unpaid so, not only do I not have veterinarian here, I currently don't have the funds for that. The lady at the poison control center said that if I had to go the veterinarian, I would have to pay and then contact Hartz and they may be able to help me with the costs. All I can do now is hope that my cats get better. When asked about recovery, the lady at the poison control center said that depending on the cats, it could take weeks, up to years for their hair to grow back if it does at all. This is frustrating because not only did I pay a lot of money for my cats, having them flown in from another country, but because we love them as part of our family. Buyer beware with this product and I hope none of you have this issue. Oh, FYI my cats are pure bread Oriental Shorthair so I don't know if it's a breed specific thing or what. Hope this helps someone.

I can't tell if there's a difference.
Not as effective as I would have liked. I have a cat that had just a few fleas. Just enough to not be able to find them on the animal but enough for us all to get bit at night. When I bought the collar I stretched it as much as possible, and I re-stretch it every other day. While it was just the collar, I had no change in the flea problem, but it wasn't getting worse. At this point though, I am using the collar in addition to a few other products and I can't tell how well it works. My suggestion would be to be cautious and prepare for this collar to not solve your flea problems.

cheap way to protect kitties!
Cheap way to effectively protect your cats from fleas and ticks. They’re indoor cats so the last thing I wanted was to spend a huge amount of money. We exchange these out every six months as suggested, and there have never been any fleas or ticks in our home, since we moved in one year ago. They were big so we really had to cut them down, and it works for the most part, except when my dog manages to loosen them and then the cats no longer have them on.

Works
Works really well for my cat. I love being able to cut it to the right size. It helps in my area keep the fleas away.
