Great device

Works like a charm. Very strong magnet. Everything fits quite tightly yet still fits. Perfect for its purpose.

Heavy duty case with an extremely strong magnet. Ive only had it for a month so I cant say if the batteries are up to par or not but so far so good. Only issue is that its a tight squeeze for the GL300 almost too tight to where it wouldn't fit.

I am a PI that has been putting on GPS units for many years. Was an early adopter. I decided to try Spy Spot out for their alleged 6 month extended battery to go with the STI300MA . The first one I received lasted about 3 weeks and I sent it back thinking a fluke. Had to go out, at midnight pull the unit and wait for the replacement batter. It finally came, charged it and went back and reinstalled on target vehicle. Well, this one is showing the same symptoms, and it is basically about as good as the regular extender sold by others and lasts about a month....not 6 months. So, they not only ripped me off for $179, but I have had to do risky exposures in getting this unit off and on a Land Rover (if you have ever tried that, you know what I talking about with their full underbody skid plates. I also had their case fall off a vehicle...it is a crappy magnet and design. Luckily, I actually found the whole unit on the shoulder of a road as it was transmitting yet. So, if you are a professional, this set up is not for you, as your reputation is on the line and you do way more work than you need to do. I am going back to my regular source and I should have known better...."If it sounds too good to be true......" yep. And as a side note to the Seller Spy Spot...stop putting your name on the black waterproof pelican style case!!! What kind of advertising are you going to get from a supposedly "hidden" black box under a car. Just what we need...another trail back to an investigator. I get the feeling you guys are not PI's nor have ever been out in the field.

Works great

In general, a very useful, and solidly built product-- extending the time between recharges is wonderful! Unfortunately I don't see anything near six months -- between 2-3 months has been my experience and this is with a fairly minimal usage scenario. But 2-3 months is still great compared to every few days. The USB connector has been a bit of a problem. Doesn't always make a good connection after the box is closed (which tends to but some strain on the cable/connector.

Ok the battery look sturdy and the casing is right on the mark however. No instructions on WHEN the battery back is charged up. I plugged it in and the light on the charger is red. Does anyone one if it turns green? Seller. A small card included with the unit would of gone a long way to explain this.

This battery extender is crucial in my opinion if you plan on seriously using the STI_GL300. The STI_GL300 comes with no case so instead of buying the add-on case just spend the extra money to get this extra battery which comes with a case. Depending on use you'll get about 2-3 months of battery life compared to the 2 week life without it.
