The Art and Making of The Expanse

Bought this as a gift for a The Expanse fan. Little did we realise just how much detail the designers had gone to in order to create the believable worlds. Almost every aspect of the design of the ships, stations, suits, costumes, weapons, CG shots, everything, has been meticulously thought through to ensure the show is as engaging and believable as possible. This book contains page after page of stills from both the show and behind-the-scenes to show you how the shots were made. Moreover they also include CG preparation shots and wireframes to demonstrate how the CG was done, and how the computers composited the shots so seamlessly. The careful consideration made of each of the ships, and each of the factions was a delight to read through, and you could see the love and attention the crew have given to making sure the audience can tell at-a-glance who they're looking at, and whether they're bad or good. A brilliant source material for fans of the series, as well as a demonstration of how to get the portrayal of a Sci-Fi universe so right!

I like it a lot!

I have always loved ‘making of’ books and coffee table sized art books, this combines both. My only criticism is that at 60+ with bad eyesight I found the small white on black text hard to read without a magnifying glass! Otherwise, it’s perfect.

Could have maybe done with less cast photos and more concept art but as this is the first art book for The Expanse I'm just happy it exists. If you're a fan, you will enjoy.

This is a lovely book. The recipient of this gift was very pleased.

If you like The Expanse you need to own this. You will sit there thumbing through it as soon as you open it. Great pictures & Great insight into design process of the show. My only gripe is I wish the picture were a little brighter in paces and that there was more of it. I don’t think there is much of the latter seasons but regardless it is a must own. Also, come on Amazon! get the last three books on screen asap.

Pues eso, buen material de concept art diría que de las primeras temporadas de la serie, a modo general, de las naves, personajes, escenarios, armas, etc... Muy útil tanto si trabajas en Concept como si te encantó la serie y querías indagar más y hacer coleccionismo. Que ambos son mis casos :D Libro bien de páginas, de arte, datos, y formato excelente. Tapa dura con sobrecubierta. Una maravilla a ese precio.
