Stick with name brand products, they last longer!
I got this to replace an off brand I had purchased a year earlier, that quit working. I've had this one about 4 years now and it's still working fine. It's quite easy to hookup once you locate the wires. There's plenty of length to hook up to the trailer with plenty left over. This fit perfectly and was compatible with my Subaru Outback. Considering that it's lasted four times longer than the generic brand it's well worth the little extra you pay for name brand products.

Fits perfect on a 2000 Subaru Outback
I like this harness, but wish it came with the black tubing in the picture(have to buy some now). I was easily able to hook this up to my 2000 Subaru Outback and feed it through one of the 2 holes in the spare tire well(there is one closer to the plug and one across the well from it, covered with grommets.). I was really hoping for that tubing so it doesn't look like rainbows underneath my black bumper cover. Remember to test the harness right after plugging it in, rather than waiting until you've nicely put everything back in its place!

Simple
When i first bought my subaru i had a hitch and wiring harness installed . Eventually i started having issues with the lights . I researched the issue and found the Curt wiring harness as well as a hidden plug in my car that had not been used when the first installation had been done . Within 15 minutes i had the Curt harness installed . Simple and now everything is working great . I did not have to crawl under the vehicle at all. . Great product

2005 Subaru Outback - Well worth the money! - Super Easy Install
Installed on a 2005 Subaru Outback Limited Wagon. This is probably the 5th or 6th trailer harness I have installed in the past 5 years, and was easily the simplest. It truly is plug and play. Remove the rear mat, uncover and remove the spare tire, and then remove the carpet on left side of the trunk area. Plug connector is located in the back left corner of the car, tucked up behind the panel that houses the rear auxiliary power outlet. You'll probably see it, or a wire, hanging down. Give it a tug and attach the Curt harness. Remove the rubber plug in the bottom of the spare tire area, run the harness through the hole, reinstall the plug, reinstall everything else, tie the harness up under the rear bumper cover, and you're good to go. Less than 15 minutes for me, from start to finish. Well worth the few extra bucks to avoid splicing wires.

I bought this to add trailer light connections for my 2009 Subaru Tribeca. The written installation instructions were fairly clear, although they lacked detailed photos of where the connector is located, instead pointing vaguely to where the connector should be located. That said, I was in and out of the back of my SUV in 5 minutes; installation was very straightforward, and everything worked properly the first time. I'm very pleased with the visible quality of the unit, and I'm sure that this will serve me well for years to come. One thing to note - do ensure that the fuse that is included in the accessory bag is installed in the red fuse holder.

You may have to remove or loosen drivers side rear interior panel to get at the OEM plug that is taped to its self. Once the harness was found, no problem.
