Works well to lighten my dark age spots and doesn’t clog my pores like some products have. Nice texture and dries without looking shiny.

I really love this stuff. And trust me, I don’t say that lightly. Neutrogena has been around for literally every era of my face — awkward teen skin, stressed adult skin, and now the “okay, we’re being intentional” phase. First thing I noticed was skin brightness. Not shiny. Not greasy. Just… brighter. Like my skin got a decent night’s sleep even when I didn’t. Zero issues with greasiness, which is huge for me. This sinks in fast and doesn’t leave that “did I just oil my face?” feeling. I can put makeup on after without regretting my life choices. It’s also quietly moisturizing. Not heavy, not rich, but my skin feels comfortable — not tight, not angry. Which, honestly, is all I ask of a retinol product. After using it consistently, my skin tone looks more even. Dark spots aren’t magically erased (because reality), but they’re softer and less obvious, and my face just looks more pulled together. And for value for money? Solid. This works like something pricier without making me feel irresponsible at checkout. Bottom line: this is one of those “don’t mess with a good thing” products. Reliable, effective, no drama. Which is basically the skincare equivalent of a healthy relationship.

While I like this product and did see noticible differences in tone, wrinkles and texture early on in use, I feel as though my skin or the product has seemingly plateaued. While I feel it "may" be helping to keep things at bay, the initial improvement is just not progressing at all any more. I have highly sensitive skin! At first I noticed mild irritation using every other day, as time passed and I became accustomed to the product it became a non issue. I've used this well over a six month period of nightly application and as I've said, it's just at the point that this is at a stand sill. I don't like the fact that Neutrogena will not disclose the percentage of retinol in their products. The serum is the most efficacious I.e. Strongest product in their retinol lines. I have learned that the higher the percentage of retinol, the more yellow the product will be. Retinol cannot be dyed! This is a light/slightly towards medium yellow, not as deep as butter. Sorry, I'm kind of struggling with what to compare the color to. I think the price is quite reasonable and this is a really great introduction to the benefits of retinol especially if you have sensitive skin. Just be aware, the results may be good in the beginning but eventually it just becomes a maintenance product. I would recommend that while using a retinol product follow it with a good moistureizer, if you use during the day make sure your wearing at least a SPF of 30. Nightly application is best! Use on clean dry skin, followed by moisturizer. I hope this helps. Best of outcomes to you.

The Neutrogena Rapid Tone Repair applies smoothly and has made a big difference in how my skin looks. My brown spots have been gradually disappearing.

I had high hopes for this to help with a few dark spots that have popped up. It didn’t do much. It felt fine going on, but it did make my breakout a little so I kept it to only those areas. That made the skin peel slightly (no more than a normal retinoid) but the spots never looked any different. As for tone, I couldn’t use it all over so to it causing some breakouts so I don’t know.

After using this for some time, found that it actually helps reduce dark spots and uneven skin tone. Downside is you must remember to put on SPF50 sunscreen after applying this, unless you go to sleep immediately after applying (with lights off!)

This product was nice. But it takes days to cure darkspots.
