The iconic Mexico 66 was born in 1966 and debuted at the 1968 Olympic games pre-trials in Mexico with a premium white leather, stitched with red and blue tiger stripes. Today, the classic runner has been reawakened and remains to be the most popular shoe in the Onitsuka Tiger collection. Award yourself a gold medal in the retro-cool sneaker competition wearing the Onitsuka Tiger Mexico 66. Introduced in 1966, this was the first shoe with the famous tiger stripes and worn at the Olympic games in Mexico in 1968. History lessons aside, this is one sweet sneak with a tonal leather and suede upper, soft lining and traction-loving outsole. Some said it fits a size too small because it's leather, some said it felt cheap and flimsy, a lot of people said that it does not have arch support, even fake, some said since it's 2017, these models are worst than the original. Quality 10/10 I bought from the Onitsuka Tiger seller on desertcart, what I received was the genuine, made in Indonesia pair of Onitsuka's. From another review, the ones that are made in Vietnam are of the poor quality, these one's on desertcart are the real deal. The leather seems of good quality, I cannot judge 100% as of now since I've owned them for a few hours but they seem alright. I don't know about everyone else but mines actually came with arch support soles. It felt awkward at first but once I got used to them they are super comfortable. The laces are of high quality, it's not your usual shoe lace, it feels a bit more soft and less tight feeling. The bottom sole is flat which I love, I wore these to the gym and they are great to squat in. I LOVE the retro look, these are timeless and personally a must own. One of the best pair of shoes I've ever purchased. Get this gem before it disappears forever! Review: How could a shoe from the 1966 Olympics be any good in the 21st century - I bought this shoe for it's appearance, positive reviews and historical significance. Ontisuka shoes are famous. At first I was a bit skeptical. How could a shoe from the 1966 Olympics be any good in the 21st century? The answer is some things are designed properly from their inception and last the test of time. This shoe is an example of that. Just like a 66' Shelby Cobra or the metal prop rod used to hold up the hood of your automobile, this shoe remains a competitive idea even today. Apart from the fact these shoes squeak like crazy on wet floors and cause one to imagine they are in a scene from Police Academy where Micheal Winslow is simulating squeaking noises, these make a very good daily active shoe. The sole is very thin and I made sure to order about a half size smaller for optimum fit. I usually wear a 91/2m US but a 9m US in this shoe fits me like a glove... (or in this case a well fitting shoe). These shoes are not made for rain or wet conditions. Think of this shoe like a sports car, minimalist and purpose built. If your goal is heel and toe down-shifting in your sports car, look no further. These shoes offer great feel. They are stylish, well made and are pretty comfortable, but adding a Dr. Scholl's gel heel support makes them about perfect. So apart from the embarrassing wet floor squeaky aspect and lack of traction in the wet, these are a great performing shoe. Kinda pricey though. An Adidas Samba or Gazelle are about half the price and probably just as effective but not nearly as unique or aesthetically pleasing in my opinion. .

Well-made, look good.
Well, they are lovely to look at. I was too enamored of them to notice they are slip-ons. They can be laced but not quite as easily as regular lace-ups. I have opted to lace them with Bread elastic laces so they remain slip-ons. I would suggest considering a half-size smaller as they seem to be a little loose as I continue to wear them--why I opted to lace them. The navy is a great color with jeans and I like that the off-white is crisp but not too high contrast.

The original shoe with the Asics double-stripes
This is a very comfortable sneaker. I typically wear minimalist shoes. I've tried the fabric version of these and a few other Onitsuka Tiger models, which are usually on the loose side (my foot just slid around inside several of them). These leather shoes are more fitted at the arch and sides of the toe box (but not too short in length or tight across the toe box), and I would feel much more comfortable working out in these. The sole is thin, with an allover miniature nub texture and a very slight increase in heel height. There is a low arch support. It basically has a flexible rubber sole with a thin, perforated sockliner. The white leather looks nice, though the suede toe cap looks like it will mark up, if you're not careful. As others mentioned, and like most shoes from that time, there is a bit of time required for these to break in. I wore them around the house a few days, and there was some rubbing on my Achilles, but after a couple of days (just wearing them a little each afternoon), the leather stretched to fit my foot. I would prefer that the heel tab stay folded down, but it will flip up on you quite a bit, until you've worn them quite a few times. You could use binder clips or something to help the fold set. These are nice enough for a casual look with chinos or more dressed up look with nicer jeans, and lots of folks comment on how cool/nice they look. They're relatively cheap, compared to other minimalist shoes, and they really are comfortable, once you break them in. If they were to get too dirty to wear as a casual shoe, I wouldn't have any qualms about wearing them to the gym as a basic workout shoe.

wrong size; lovely product
The product looked fine. They sent the men's size instead of the women's size that I requested.

The shipping was fast received the order 3 weeks earlier than expected considering it from Japan. I love onitsuka I have 2 other pairs that I bought from my home country I’ve used those in so many trips with a lot of walking involved and my feet never hurt it’s also simple yet stylish which makes it easy to wear anything. Its hard to find a pair here in Canada not unless you’re going to order from ontitsuka official site plus shipping which I believe is more expensive.
