Works great in the boat lift
We used these in our boat lift corners where the swallows love to make their nests. It has worked very well so far. We fasten them with zip ties. Works very well!

Prevents birds from roosting on roof!
Easy to put together but takes a bit of time. They come in smaller sections so which makes installation on concrete singles easier.

It works for my needs
Some swallows had built a nest on top of an old security camera in the corner of my porch so when I replaced it with a Ring doorbell I thought I had gotten rid of the birds and their mess. Unfortunately, the male kept coming back every night and would perch on the sconce, pooping all over it, the wall, the floor... you get the picture. I bought these strips because they claimed to be flexible, and I wanted something that would easily adjust to the curvy shape of the light fixture that was so attractive to this bird.I like that they are short strips that can be linked together (well, kind of, since they don't actually snap onto each other, but there are notches that can help you place them together), and that the backs are scored to help bend the strip into a curve or snap bits off to make it even shorter if needed, which actually ended up being a good thing for me.Be aware that they are not really easily curved, its more that they can somewhat conform to the shape of the curve if you carefully work to shape it (I used a serrated knife to make the scored grooves in the back a bit deeper). I want to really emphasize that you have to be careful or you'll end up with something more jagged than curved, or even breaking off chunks. And of course it does take some work to assemble, as you will need to push the steel needles through the back of the plastic strips. Once again, you'll have to be patient and careful if you don't want to poke your hands, or worse, an eye. Finally, in my case, all I needed was some zip ties to secure the strip to my light fixture. I just regret not planning ahead and getting ties that matched the color and ended up using whatever I already had at hand.In the end I would say it did work, and the effort of putting it together has been well worth it. One week after installing the strip, the birds are gone and there are no signs that they've been back at all.

Stop the bird poo immediately
My mail box is outside next to another mailbox. My mailbox for some reason was where one Mockingbird stood guard every morning over our cul-de-sac, along with standing guard and it being spring he was eating berries from a nearby bush. Needless to say, that bird must of crapped a bag of berries. What a mess! The postal worker barely wanted to touch the mailbox. So I ordered these. Easy to assemble. I only used one of the hard plastic holders and one set of spikes because it was a perfect fit (length of the mailbox from front to back). I cleaned the mailbox in and out because the crap had drained inside. Then I prepped it for fresh black outdoor paint. The paint dried quickly. I attached the spikes with really long black zip ties (front and back) and then cut off the excess. Perfect! I watched the next morning as the Mockingbird flew in for his morning guard session and you should of seen him back up as fast as he could before almost impaling himself. Needless to say, this mailbox is clean as a whistle. Nada crap! I cannot say the same for my neighbors mailbox because he has now taken over hers to stand guard. Sorry neighbor! Perfect for a mailbox issue and I know the postal worker appreciates it too.

Great item if you have problem with birds
We live in Hawaii and birds take over ever space that is flat. Not only their poop everywhere, but nests are built. These spikes keep birds away!

Effective solution, not sure about durability long-term.
Putting the spikes into the plastic base was pretty straightforward, albeit tedious and time-consuming. I only bought 1 5-foot section to try first, but I would need an additional 40-50 feet to cover my entire deck. So this would take some time to assemble. My biggest concern is actually the durability of the plastic base long-term. It’s rather rigid plastic and seems like it could be brittle. I didn’t actually install a section yet, but could see the plastic cracking if screwed down too tight. I’ve decided to go with a similar solution that uses a stainless steel metal base vs the plastic.

Essential bird-proofing equipment
These are great. I've bought two sets so far. They're easy to assemble, fairly unobtrusive looking, and definitely work to keep pigeons from roosting on my door sills and gate. I would not describe them as "flexible." You can, however, break them apart into small sizes that you can place around something like an outdoor light. I used caulk to install them in areas where they can stand upright. Attaching them to a wall is trickier. I ended up using thumbtacks (they have little holes in the base that you can use for a thumbtack).

Good product, some assembly required
The product is of good quality. It is easy to join pieces and easy to snap off pieces in order to create the correct size. You need your own mounting screws. Be warned, the spikes are packed separately and must be inserted into the base one at a time or two at a time depending on the holes. If you are going to put up 10 feet of this stuff you are going to spend some labor. Wear safety glasses while assembling -- once the the spikes are in, they stay in, but it's easy for them to pop out if they are only half way in, and you don't want to be poked in the eye. If you need something that doesn't require assembly, there are other options that may be more expensive. I give it 5 stars but you need to be aware of this.
