Do you have to shake it in order to get the snow moving or will the snow move as long as its wound up?

You have to shake it in order to have the snow move around inside the globe.

Is it snow or glitter?

The globe was a gift to our Granddaughter at her final performance as CHRISTINE in the Phantom of the Opera over 5 years ago. Memory has it as "snow", but I cannot guarantee my answer is correct.
