Perfect for old Tansu Chests
I've been buying these old Japanese chests for over 40 years, but never figured out what to do with the old, dirty finishes on them. Like so many others, shelter in place has given me time to figure things out, and restoring my Tansu was one of them. It takes LOTS of elbow grease, and lots of 000 steel wool, but this wax penetrates into the wood, and the steel wool picks up the old dirt and grime, and the Kiri wood both lightens and darkens, at the same time. The grain highlights come back out, and the softer parts of the Kiri darken. This finish highlights the little scars and grain defects, and the wood begins to have a luster that just begs to be touched, and then caressed. I work this wax into the metal fittings and lock faces, as well. Much corrosion is removed, and the metal begins to shine very softly, with a wonderful patina. I am beyond delighted with this product, and what it is doing to my old Tansu. A final polish, with nothing more than a paper towel brings out a lasting shine. I have just re-ordered this product.

Great wax’
The product went on easy and I buffed it and it made the wood look fabulous. The smell went away right away. Love the wax. I bought Medium Brown.

Excellent paint wax
Works perfectly on some wood paints but as long is the paint doesnt have varnish layer. This product really smells bad for a few days though.

Quality Product
It takes a little work to apply, but if you work it in, the result is a nice luster finish. note that if you use this you can't go back to store- bought polishes. you can however rebuff the finish to bring back the shine.

Open your windows!
I was so sad Howard stopped making their Dark Oak wax (selling on eBay for $95!) so after reading lots of reviews, I ordered Briwax in Mid Brown. The can said it can liquify above 65 degrees and it had. I popped it in the fridge for a bit and that helped. Upon opening the can, I was bowled over by the strong smell as it burned my throat. Undaunted, I applied a thin layer to my table, let it dry for a few minutes then buffed it out. The result was so-so. I applied coat #2, then buffed and began to see a glimmer of the former glory my Howard wax faithfully supplied. I’ll probably apply a 3rd coat tomorrow and open the windows when I do. I’ll see how durable it is in future as our dining table gets lots of use. The smell seems to be the biggest downside to Briwax. The color, ease of application and finish seem to be decent, though.

Soft and brushable with immediate effect
I really like this stuff. It's different than MinWax dark but each have a place. MinWax is great for keeping crevices from being white but doesn't darken up surface too much with one coat, and it's hard wax. Briwax is soft and brushable and works great to immediately darken up surface.

This was the single best item to refresh my home for sale. Briwax renewed and re-polished all the old oak cabinetry in my home. I went a shade darker and the results were fantastic. Now with the new black hardware on The cupboards - they literally look new. Thank you briwax!!
