Good buy
Is as described. As far as I can tell ive only used it once but works great and is very simple to use. I had to figure grade over about a 30ft distance. I happen to have a Huepar laser level that I used it with

Works really well!
I just got this detector and Huepar 503CG laser level to use outdoors building screen rooms patio covers and pool enclosures. Most of what I do is in the bright sun and no laser level can really be seen beyond a short distance. This detector solves that problem if you use it with a compatible green laser with pulse mode. Some reviews have said it's too sensitive and it's hard to get it to the solid tone lining up with the laser. I've seen that complaint about all detectors. It's not a problem with the detector. These are sensitive down to a small fraction of an inch. If you're not able to hold it at that it's not going to tone in. I was able to find the beam and get it to tone in easily at about 70 ft just holding it in my hand. I didn't test beyond that. ANY detector takes a steady hand and a little bit of practice to use precisely. The fact is most people don't need that level of precision for what they might be doing at those distances. If you can get it to beep on either side you'll still be within a small fraction of an inch. It also has to be a certain distance away from the laser level. It's not far but if you try testing it at a few inches it's not going to work properly. That also goes with any detector. This has to be used with a green laser that has"pulse mode" and pulse mode has to be turned on. I'm sure at least some of the negatives are from people using it with the wrong laser or using it incorrectly. The beeping is very loud. It can be turned off but there are no volume settings. You can comfortably hold it with your thumb over the speaker and that makes a big difference but I wish it had a volume control. I'll probably put a piece of tape over the speaker. I wouldn't reduce a star for it because it's not sold as having a volume control. I'd rather it be too loud than too quiet as there are times where you might want to set the detector in place and move the laser from a distance and listen for the tone. I also like that it has LED indicators on the front, the back, and one side. That's a feature a lot of high-end detectors don't even have. That's handy and a tight area, working on a ladder or some other position where you can't comfortably see the front of it.

Works fine but a little tricky
The sensor on the Front is great and easy to use if you follow the directions in the meager booklet and play with it a while. Like so many products from you-know-where the instructions are less than what you want. Make sure the sending unit is in pulse-mode. The sensors on the side and back either work intermittently or I am not using them correctly. I really don't need them but I wished they did work better. I am tempted to return it for a replacement. Good luck.

It Surpassed the 50m rating easily
I'm not sure how some people are having difficulty using this receiver or getting poor distance performance. Perhaps some are forgetting to remove the receiver window vinyl protection sticker....who knows. My experience was MORE than expected. I tested this with a brand new battery, using a S04CG/CR green laser from Huepar (using pulse mode) on a very robust and stable tripod. Sunny conditions, 75F outside. I got 200ft distance, in the bright sun, with the receiver on a 16ft marking pole. Easy. It would have gone more, but I didn't want to keep walking. Distances were confirmed repeatedly with a laser tape measure. This thing just works. Huepar is the best kept secret in the laser industry, period. The laser line position is between 1/16 and 1/8 in width, and the receiver marks the exact location with its reference marks on the receiver to about an 1/8th of an inch. Accurate for most purposes. It is very sensitive, you must hold it steady within an 1/8 inch to hit the center tone consistently. You need a steady setup at the laser, and a good quality marking pole that can be moved slowly and incrementally to find your exact measurement. Stability is the key. If you can do that, and have fresh batteries in both units, this receiver will not disappoint. All the extras like bubble levels and multiple marking reference points make this approaching a pro unit as far as I am concerned. Surpasses the distance rating by manufacturer, at least in my case. I would buy this over and over. Very pleased.

Makes the laser leveler usable in daylight
I used this to level a cripple wall on a foundation. The sun was bright so it was impossible to see the laser line past 10 feet even with a reflector, but with this device, I could level the wall out perfectly. This has saved me so much time. It is well worth the money! My new favorite toy!

Did Not Work Out of the Box, Twice
Did not work out of the box. Specification say it will work with laser from the same company (622). This is the second unit and both did not work out of the box with brand new batteries. Would power up just fine but was completelly blind to the green laser in ideal indoor conditons. Tried inside, at different distances, tried outside at different distances. As the device has no threshold adjustment - just an On-Off switch not much you can do wrong other than put the battery in wrong - but the compartment is clearly marked. Power light comes on and all LED's power up to show they work and then the device is ready to receive. Tried another brand red laser, no luck. DO NOT get the 622 laser if you plan on using it outside, not bright enough for outdoor daylight applications. I have this laser and can only use it at sunrise or sunset outside. I think the lesson here is just buy Bosch, pay the extra money.

Great addition to laser
Love how it has extended the range of my laser. can use it for vertical and horizontal

OK but repeatable within 1/4 inch
I bought this reader to grade a property. It was very useful but not accurate. It had difficulties reading in the sun. Had to create shade over the sensor to get it to read. The accuracy drop beyond 30 feet. Overall, not a bad reader and useful at the price point. Battery life is also very good. It shuts off by itself which helps save battery power.
