** Overall comment ** These poles fit my needs perfect and I love them
** Overall comment ** These poles fit my needs perfect and I love them. Prior to owning these trekking poles I was a bit of a snob. I thought to myself, why do I need poles to hike and judged others who owned them. Boy was I mistaken and I’m extremely sorry for judging! A couple of my avid hiker friends owned them and offered to let me use one of their poles while on a long hike. I refused the offer but as we continued hiking my friend offered it to me again as the conditions started to get muddy. I ended up using one of the poles and instantly felt the difference. Not only did they help with the muddy conditions but also shifted some of my weight from my legs to my arms. I find them extremely helpful on long hikes as they help keep me balanced and stable. I decided to purchase my own pair of trekking poles. I didn’t want to spend a whole lot of money on poles and found these to be right in my price point. The poles are perfect. The poles are light, the grip is comfortable and it’s easy to adjust the height. There’s a plastic piece that snaps into place to hold the poles from moving. ** PROS ** 1. Light in weight. 2. The grip is comfortable. 3. The height is easy to adjust. ** CONS ** 1. I have nothing negative to say about these poles and would recommend them if you’re looking for a cheaper version of poles. I worry about the plastic piece eventually breaking but for now, I think this poles are worth it.

Saved Me From Knee Replacement~*~
If anybody had ever told me that I would be extolling the virtues of trekking poles last summer I would have laughed at them, why would I review trekking poles? I love to walk, but mountain climbing, off road excursions or snow and ice activities are not my favorite things. But life has a way of making us rethink things sometimes. And, just a week before Christmas in 2015 I fell and sustained a tib/fib plateau fracture to my left knee which required two surgeries to repair and five months in a wheelchair. My surgeon's prognosis was dismal and ultimately she thought I would have to have knee replacement surgery, but she was not encouraged that it would be a particularly favorable outcome because the fracture was so severe that my knee and foot were constantly very swollen and painful, and I was still taking a boatload of pain medicine after five months. One afternoon though, a very nice couple saw me walking with a walker and recommended the Cascade Trekking Poles and adjusted the height to the appropriate level and "Voila" the pain or swelling have nearly disappeared. Having the poles at the right height places the stress on the pelvic girdle where it belongs, thus removing the pressure on the knees and reducing the pain and swelling.. If one Googles the Cascade website they will find a video that teaches one how to adjust the poles to the appropriate settings. Be certain to purchase the snap lock poles because I understand that the other option is not nearly as secure as the snap lock. I have read some reviews that claim these poles are quite fragile but I am an absolute klutz, I kid you not, always have been and always will be. I can hurt myself opening a bandaid. So no matter how careful I am with my poles, they have often hit the ground, on concrete, hard floors, and in the garden. They have been dropped, stepped on, tripped over, you name it, and yet they remain resilient and intact. I use and abuse them everyday, from sun-up to bedtime and they continue look like new. I have found many uses for these poles besides ambulation, reaching for my shoes, mopping up water or other substances spilled on the floor, moving thorny rose bushes out of the way, or sweeping cobwebs from the ceiling when I remember to look up. If a reach or a task needs doing, the poles engage more often than not. They are absolutely amazing and useful, an incredible value for an incredible product. Although I can now walk unassisted, my mind is predisposed to limping which aggravates my knee, so I will continue to use these for sometime in the future just to cement the idea of proper positioning to my brain and improve my posture. My surgeon reports that she is beginning to see quite a number of patients using these trekking poles so I suspect they will soon be common place in the patient as an ideal recovery tool for knees, backs, and other alignment complaints and requisite surgeries. So good on Cascade Trekking Poles, I am sure they did not anticipate a side road into the medical community, but it is wonderful that they are useful to all populations and not just for outdoor sports enthusiasts. As per Amazon's wonderful service the poles arrived on time, and were well packaged. I highly recommend these tools to others, whether using them for recreational activities or medical recovery. They are well made and certainly worth the price. Still laughing at myself here as I trek along~*~

Great Value For Good Light to Moderate Use Trekking Poles
I use these for exercise hiking because I took a bad fall one day and needed something to make walking safer for me. I purchased them as a back up set for my Black Diamond Trail Pro Shock Trekking Poles. Because I'm 230 pounds and I have a spinal cord disability from a bad surgery, I put a lot of weight on them. The quick locks need a very tight adjustment or they will slip, I have them adjusted correctly and they do take my weight without slipping. I saw some low star ratings, but the ones I read were almost all by very advanced and very athletic individuals in extreme conditions. If I were an advanced hiker I would not consider these inexpensive poles. I walk on trails that are a little bit steep and rocky, but are no where near extreme trekking conditions. My review is based on light to moderate hiking use. There is a difference, these poles are not the same quality as my BD's, but these are still very good poles. They are greater in diameter so they look a little bulkier, but actually they are noticeably lighter. They are much stiffer than my BD poles, and have less vibration which I like better. They have shock absorption that to me is just as good as the BD poles, which I like a lot. They are not as pretty as the BD poles in my opinion. These Cascade poles have nice long foam handles, nice wrist straps, and a comfortable feel similar to my BD's. They come with a lot of accessories including tungsten carbide tips, two sets of rubber caps, mud baskets and snow baskets. Cascade sells individual parts too if you were to lose something or break a section, and they are very inexpensive which is pretty cool. There is a learning curve to find the right tension and I have had these poles slip which can be dangerous, so I am taking off a star. These are a good pair of poles in every way for light to moderate use. I am 100% satisfied.

These poles are great . I researched loads of brands and centred on these for their weight and price . The reviews that they get on expert websites speak for themselves and can be qualified by the great service I have had out of them. These poles are definitely worth a try away from the big brand names as they are light , sturdy , easy to operate and come at a great price. Well done cascade
