It was a metal type that left lots of gooey sticky on the black pencil sharpener. I then took some WD-40 and spray it onto a paper towel and let it drip onto the glue stickiness. In case you are confused, WD-40 has Kerosene in it, which is the best thing ever to dissolve glue residue off items. I was able to clean it up and now you can not tell a sticker was ever placed on it. This works on all stickers. I have even used it to remove sticker residue from products like Record Albums. Just be careful to verify the material will not react to the WD-40 before getting it all over the item. This might be something most people in the world could care less about.
