I had been using a Metra kit that had an inaccessible tray that took up precious space for wires and adapters (e.g. Maestro MRR2), and mounting tabs that would come lose when adjusting the screen, especially side to side. The Scosche plastic is much heavier and the side tabs lock very tightly once the headunit is inserted into the dash. Although the beveled edges around the headunit opening looked great around the screen hinge and are mostly covered by the floating screen anyway, I can understand the complaint of other reviewers that it creates a gap around a single DIN unit.
