KEEN Men's Targhee 2 Low Height Waterproof Hiking Shoes

My third pair of Keen hiking gear, Sandals, high top, and the ankle height. The wide toe box is a big plus. Very comfortable. Size varies with these shoes, high tops are larger for the stated size, sandals are a little small, these shoes hit spot on for a size 12. Well made but I know after a while, the soles will start to detach. They are compound soles, with two layers of dissimilar color and composition. They come apart in the arches and toes. Nothing you can do about it except keep a. Tube of shoe goo around to fix them. Seems the original method of affixing the soles gets old and releases. Not a problem unless you are mid hike. Having said that, and it is the same for all of my Keen purchases, they readily can be fixed. It’s my third pair, right, so if I can fix them I will. Upper shoe quality is very high and the toe jambs are quite rugged. These are the most comfortable hiking brand I have used.

Excellent hiking shoes. Keen boots and shoes are great products. The shape of the toe are is more natural and do not squeeze your toes. Looks a bit different but you get used to it.

I don't normally write reviews when something positive occurs, more so I just complain when something goes wrong and then post about that. But I felt compelled to laud this hiking shoe, even though I've only used it on one 8 mile hike in the Angeles National Forest. My girlfriend and I hiked Mount Baden Powell this past Saturday 4/25/15 in what ended up being the perfect test environment for any hiking shoe or boot. A cold, windy day with plenty of unusual Southern California precipitation. Starting out at 37 degrees at 6,500 feet, my feet felt comfortable, warm and firm in these Keen's. Hiking up to between 8,000' - 9,300' it started snowing. We crossed over patches of snow as well as walking through mud. A good portion of the terrain we passed over was rock. On the way down as we dropped to 7,500' and below the snow turned to sleet and then became rain so we also crossed several puddles along the trail path. After completion my feet stayed warm, comfortable and dry. I've got fat/wide feet so these size 11's were very spacious and my feet didn't feel cramped. I've also got a pair of Vasque Taku GTX hiking boots and these Keen Targhee II's had an extremely similar feel to the Vasque's, just in a hiking shoe form instead of hiking boot form. They seem pretty sturdy and durable, but I can't give them 5 stars just yet because in my books an excellent product will have a long, productive and durable life. Like my Toyota or my Vasque hiking boots. I'll try to follow up with this post in a couple months or after I use them to hike Mount Whitney in September with these Keen Targhee II's and then possibly raise it to 5 stars if they are still going strong without a great deal of wear and tear. ***Updated 8-24-16. These hiking shoes are by far the best hiking shoe's I've ever had. I don't even bother with using my Vasque hiking boots anymore. Besides, trekking poles help reduce ankle sprains anyway, so who needs a heavier/bulkier boot? The last 3 weekends I hiked San Bernardino Peak (16.5 miles 4700' elevation gain), Old Baldy Trail (13 miles 6,000' elevation gain) and last weekend Mount Whitney (23 miles 6,670' elevation gain) and these hiking shoes are now well over a year old and still kicking ass. Grip still great, comfortable enough and very durable, wide for my wide feet...I cannot praise these hiking shoes enough. Pair them with Thorlos wool hiking socks and your feet will do better and last longer than other poor suckers stuck in other shoes/boots.***

I just received the new pair of low-cut Keen Targhee II shoes and so of course don't know whether they'll prove as durable as previous pairs I've owned and worn out. Thus the four-star rating. If this pair lasts a couple of years, I'll come back and add a fifth star (if someone reminds me). I get two years' use, or more, out of a pair, with everyday and sometimes very hard use. That typically includes at least one trip on which I do a lot of walking, on pavement and hard floors, and on paths and some trails, sometimes with a backpack. The new pair was made in the same place as my now-wearing-out pair (Thailand), for what that's worth, and the initial fit and finish appear to be fine. About sizing: I've found much variability in sizing, seemingly depending on the brand, type of shoe, and place of manufacture. I usually wear a US size 13, but for the Targhee II a 14 fits me just right. I really like having an ample toe box; I don't slide around inside the shoe at all on non-level surfaces. I haven't tried the Targhee IIIs, which reportedly are somewhat more flexible than the IIs. I like the solid platform and stability and support of the IIs so will stick with them. And the IIs I've had really are waterproof, at least to a depth of two or three inches. One tradeoff is that with the pretty aggressively textured or cleated soles, you're going to have a lot of whatever you've been stepping in -- mud, animal-produced land mines, or whatever -- clinging to the bottom of the shoes and will likely need a hose for cleanup before going indoors. Another tradeoff might be that some might find the shoes a bit on the heavy side. I don't; anyway, you can't have shoes be as stout and durable as Targhee IIs and also be ultra-light. Perhaps other brands of so-called walking or medium-duty hiking/backpacking shoes (Merrill, Salomon, etc.) are just as good or better -- I can't say, because I haven't tried them. The Targhee IIs are the best shoes I've found yet for overall utility, performance, and durability, far better than what used to be called "sneakers" or athletic shoes.

der Schuh ist super bequem und auch die Grösse 41 passt perfekt. Leider ist die Sohle nach noch nicht einmal einem Jahr abgelaufen! kein Profil mehr, am Fersen brach auf beiden Seiten eine Ecke Plastik ab. Gut ich lief schon sehr viel auf Asphalt aber nicht mehr wie 10km pro Tag! Ich bin der Meinung ein guter Schuh sollte länger halten! Es ist schade - das Obermaterial war noch wie neu!

My second pair of these shoes and absolutely love them. Last pair looked after me for 8 years and I now use them as a shoe for working on site (I'm a fencer)

I bought these because my (second) pair of Keen Jaspers finally gave up after 3-4 years of abuse on a goat/fruit farm and walking West Papua, and then walking and hiking in Taiwan, Japan, Africa, and Europe. To be fair, I pushed those Jaspers too hard, so I got these for the farm and Jaspers for walking and man, was that a good decision. These are really comfortable, feel a little like Nike airs, but tough as nails. Can't comment on durability because I've only had them for a month but they are great shoes. Actually wanted some steel caps, like the Keen Utility Men's Lansing Low Steel Toe Work Shoe, but could not get those in Japan. So these were my second choice, but I was *very* pleasantly surprised. I think we're going to be together for a long time. Fits as expected. Can't recommend them highly enough.
