Great fan
This fan is great. It has lasted 2 years and 2 months of use every day almost 24 hours a day. It just now started to die on me and need to buy a new one. For the group of people that need the strong fan to sleep it’s great, and the sound is perfect to sleep with.

Blowing in the Wind
This is a very nice oscillating fan. First one I have owned with a remote. When I first put it together when I turned it on it had a vibration. I tried to make sure that it was put together right and tried it again. It still vibrated, but it only lasted a very short time before it smoothed out. It has four speeds and also a temp setting. I have used the temp setting, but I really don't see what it really does. The oscillating of the fan is nice and I can stop it in the exact spot I want it to aim. It's a good floor fan and would buy it again.

Ignore the negative reviews - they must have put it together incorrectly
I almost didn't purchase this Lasko S16612 16" Adjustable Pedestal Fan with Thermostat and Remote Control due to of all the negative reviews that said it didn't sit right in the base, was wobbly, can't move fan around without it falling apart, it's a safety hazard, etc. It was a quick assembly and you just have to make sure that the pole is pushed all the way into the base and the fan assembly itself. I wouldn't but I could dance around with it if I wanted to. LOL I also watched a video that showed it vibrating so bad causing loud noise that if I had seen before purchasing may have completely turned me away, but my guess is that he didn't get the threads lined up and screw the blade in correctly. On first test run, it seems like a great fan! I'll edit if the reviews that say it died quickly turn out to be true, but so far it seems like the perfect replacement for my broken fan that I've hung on to because I couldn't find another temperature controlled one!

Pretty good fan, with an interesting thermostat feature
These are pretty good fans. They have a nice set of features, including a thermostatic setting which if the temperature falls below the selected one (5 degree increments), the fan stops blowing. Very handy over night when the temperature starts out high enough to need the fan and then dips low enough that the fan wakes you up with chills if it keeps going. In my opinion, superior to a countdown timer, which this also has. It's not too noisy, although there is a bit of a hum. Speeds start at the highest and step down to off, which makes it a more annoying to speed up, but with 5 speeds, it's not too bad to cycle through. Although you do lose timer or temperature settings when you go through off. The remote is a little obnoxious, as it also controls fans of other brands which makes setting all the fans more exciting than we might wish. Worse, the buttons affect the other brands differently. so changing the speed on this may start another brand oscillating. The top height is a bit lower than some, and the downward tilt is limited. On the other hand, height adustment is pretty good, so can compensate for the limited tilt. Cord is adequate, and if not long enough, there is always the option for an extension cord.

Amazing Fan!
This fan is amazing. We just had a horrific heat wave and the power company lowered the power, making our A/C useless. This fan is the only reason we were able to sleep. It cooled us down immensely. The remote came in handy too. I want to buy one for everyone I know.

Cheaply made for an American product
For a fan that is American made, it’s China cheap. Starting at the bottom, the base is plastic and is not weighted. The shaft that goes into the base is not bolted, it’s a push in. The head assembly that goes onto the shaft is not bolted either, it just slides on and it wobbles. If you pick up the fan by the head assembly it just slides off. You have to use 2 hands and hold the shaft and the head assembly to move it. The rear grille is plastic and the front grille is metal. This fan does not blow very hard on high which was disappointing to me. It is quiet but it doesn’t blow hard. The fan does oscillate with remote control and manual control which I really need because of my disability. This is my first day with this fan and time will tell on how long it will last.

Very quiet!
I bought one a few years ago, loved the fact that it's a brushless DC motor, it makes no noise on low. On high, it does make a little wind noise but still quiet. DC also uses less power. Well, it finally died, my fault, so the wife order another fan, but it was an AC brush type fan, strong, but noisy, even on low. One thing I discovered was my Shepard hated the new one, and I can only guess it made a noise only he could hear. So we found this one again, it took a couple of days before he started crossing its path again, now he doesn't care. Downside? It isn't all that strong, but sufficient at 15' away. Upside? We use it in the bedroom because it's the quietest fan we can find, on all settings.

Terrible quality control
My oh My I own a very similar Lasko fan I purchased ~10yrs ago that looks just like this except it is 20" and has 5 blades. It's great. I just bought this fan for another room. What a difference! The neck on the fan that lets you tilt the fan up/down is so weak it can't hold the fan up so it droops down. The blade is so unbalanced that the fan visibly shakes. The fan on high produces less air movement than the old fan on 2. How could a company actually get away with selling this??? Update: I immediately returned this and ordered model S18440 which I should have done from the start Update2: The S18440 works just fine. Just avoid this model!
