A58WS-BLK Foam Windscreen for All Shure Ball Type Microphones, Black

I paid more for these than the average ones out there, thinking maybe this is the one that I remember having decades ago with one of my Shure mics that I liked so much more than all the rest that.... it was! Compared to all other mic windscreens I've owned: this one is SOFTER on the lips, more transparent with sound (but of course still stops pops and hisses), fits better on the mic and is slightly thinner than those big black clown nose looking windscreens. Well done Shure! Worth the investment for me.

For the price, this windscreen does a good job at stopping wind noise and also softening plosives ( the sounds made when pronouncing letters like P's or B's). I didn't notice any kind of chemical smell which can be found with some of the other off brand alternatives found on Amazon. I have noticed that it seems to deaden the higher end a little bit, but nothing that can't be corrected with a little eq. I wish that it fit tighter around the bottom of the ball. It's not going to slip off, I just think it would look better.

Pretty self explanatory. I worried about the material most since it does need to stretch but it fits perfectly on mine even after fiddling to adjust it to sit perfectly even and notice 0 tearing or breaking on it. It provides just enough buffer that it did exactly what I wanted. This is NOT made for this style of microphone so it will not fit it perfectly out of the box, you WILL need to stretch it and pull it down yourself. This is literally only a fault of picking something not designed for our devices and is no way an indictment of this product. I am basing everything on what it says it is made for and promises because it does what it's advertised to do (fitting different mic brands and models is not one of those things). I got it because it was the closest thing and the dimensions looked good enough and it works perfectly fine and it wouldn't be fair to dock anything because it didn't just slide right onto something it wasn't even made for.

Perfect fit. Makes my microphone match the XLR cables and is a must have for audio recording!

DO NOT GO TO OTHER LOW COST OPTIONS! These are quality fitting foam covers that do the job soooo much better than the cheap foam covers. Other covers will muffle sound and hurt your recording while not even able to block the “poof” sound when you spit into the mic. These are professional, come in different colors and do the job exactly as advertised. Ask me how I know? Because I ordered the others and had to send them all back because of shoddy craftsmanship. These are on my mics, will stay on my mics and I can use them anywhere on my SM58 microphones.

On those windy days by the marina, this Shure windscreen will keep the whoosh out of your PA. I bought the gray one because others always have black; gray makes mine easy to identify. I'm not fan of Shure's SM58 or Beta 58A, but this windscreen does fit them perfectly and really does the job. My new Heil Sound PR 35 came with its own windscreen, so this one is a spare for the other guys when they lose theirs. Bass player = go-to guy for stuff the other dudes broke or forgot. Anyway, 100% recommend this for windy days. btw, people, this is NOT a pop filter. Enjoy.

Snug fit. Used it to replace a third party wind screen that's been in use for a very long time. These official Shure wind screens are better quality and slightly thicker around the area you normally speak/sing into, which will help to protect the mic long term. Just a quick note for anyone expecting this to completely stop plosives, it won't! It's designed to reduce wind noise when recording outside! If you want to stop plosives then either position your mic so you're not gushing air directly into it or buy a pop filter and move away from the mic a little bit.
