Crochet Granny Squares

This book was exactly what I was wanting with great large visuals and written instructions to aid me with my crochet Granny Squares .. glad to have it for reference and my library.. a true must have..

I gave this book a 5 star rating even though it wasn't what I expected. It is a great reference for beginners. It teaches the beginning stitches that every other stitch is based off of. Then it teaches 7 more complicated stitches. There are 8 "real" granny square patterns in increasing difficulty. I haven't crocheted for about 7 years so a refresh for me is exactly what I need. I highly recommend this book if you are a beginner or just getting back into crochet

I am by no means an expert and I plan to up my crochet game so I bought this and another $20 book which I like very much. I wanted to teach myself some new techniques etc. thank god I’m not a baby beginner. The instructions for some of these squares is just not correct according to the photo it’s missing steps. So you have to guess to do another round etc or add a stitch. For instance in the traditional granny square round one you need 4 sets of DC into the ring but they only make you do 3 so I have to guess to do another round to match the pictures. Same thing goes for the other rounds to make 4 total rounds when it guides you to do 3 but that doesn’t match the picture. I do think this is “easy” to follow for a beginner and it’ll definitely make you use your analytical skills to finish the project. I would recommend this for someone at my level where you know the basics but you just want to add more creativity to your skill and more stitches under your belt.

This is a great book for beginners, covering basic stitches, handling rows, and working in the round. The patterns range from very basic to quite challenging squares. African Flower and Hexagons are also included. I'm going to make a throw with all my practice squares! (Sorry I'm not good with digital camaras)

WOW a 2nd book of granny squares to make. It is fantastic. I’ve made several of them already and are beautiful. Will make a beautiful afghan.

I hesitated on a 2-3 star. It's a good book for beginners but I was frustrated that one of the first patterns I did was wrong. The traditional granny square says repeat 2x when it should be 3x. It says it in the whole pattern. Ended up having to call my mother with 40+years of experience to tell me I wasn't crazy about it being wrong! Also the book came with a horrible smell and I had to let it air out outside to smell better. I thought it was a one off but did see where others had the same issue.

great gift for any crocheter, 20 granny square patterns, basic techniques. A plus was the spiral binding for easy viewing of the instructions. One thing to note, I did not see a hook size for crocheting the squares anywhere in the instructions, unless I overlooked it.

Cute book. Good for people with basic skills wanting to expand. Some of the written instructions I did have to google. But once I figured out things I didn’t understand written rise, have made a few blankets with different squares. Great purchase for beginners.

The steps are easy to understand and follow as a beginner. I like that the book breaks down all of the common stitches and how to do them before diving into the granny square patterns. The only thing I wished was that there was more granny square patterns, hopefully they can make another one with just granny squares.
