Instead of repeating what others say, I would recommend opening 3 capsules and dumping them in water. It tastes a bit like a burnt vanilla drink is A OK. Even sort of nice. But if you're anything like me, it'll make you feel incredible when taken in this way. For some reason, I feel it a lot more when added to water and use it as a drink, than when I merely swallow the capsules. In general, all Mushroom Science products are superior to the un-extracted junk from Host Defense. At least for me, and when tried on my closest friends and family. I can't feel most of the Host Defense stuff at all (except for their "My Community" product which may do a little bit of something), even if I use the water trick. I think it's because Host Defense is just giving you a tiny chunk of the mushroom's mycellium (the stuff the actual mushrooms grow from, which kinda like eating the dirt and roots of broccoli instead of the broccoli stalks and florets), instead of taking the full mushrooms and extracting them in some way. Maybe if I took a whole bottle of a Host Defense product, I'd feel SOMETHING, but it'd be an expensive test. The way Mushroom Science does it is how they do it in all of the successful studies on mushrooms, I know that from what I've read over the years. You can check these studies yourself on the government's website called PubMed. (just google for it, it's a great service!) The studies that end up showing that mushrooms "don't work" use tiny bits of mycelium or mushroom plain, like the Host Defense brand does. The ones that work well use a lot of mushrooms and do extractions to make the medicinal parts bioavailable. Mostly hot water extractions, which is what Mushroom Science does. Then there are specialized exractions, sometimes solvent based, that some of the Japanese companies do. Some of those pass muster of studies, as well. Non-extracted mushrooms only seem like good sources of food. I feel very grateful to Mushroom Science, actually, because I never believed much in mushrooms as medicine before they came to the scene. Both their Chaga and Reishi extracts help me live a much higher quality of life by helping with energy issues and normal daily stressors. And their combination "Immune Builder", did help a friend of mine who had leukemia lead a much less stressful and painful life.

I purchased these for my brain but I also noticed that they really increase LIBIDO too if you take the full dose stated on the bottle. Great quality and without crappy additives is a great plus.

The features and benefits of Lions Mane are well described on the internet. If you're buying this that's not your interest. Odds are that you want to know if this is a real, and effective lion's mane supplement. Compared to Double Wood Supplements it is. I noticed no difference in effectiveness (the effects of LM are subjective). MG for MG, it's cheaper. That said alternatives exist that are even cheaper. Lions mane itself is quite cheap to grow and there is plenty of room from a margin at this price. So, I do think that this is a quality product. I recommend it. I would place it next to the highest quality lion's mane supplements on Amazon.

Disclaimer: I am naturally very sensitive so read this review as applying to sch a person. These arrived in the mail today. I was working on a project in the office and felt very tired and overwhelmed. I took two of these Lion's Mane capsules and within minutes I felt very alert and focused. I notice my headache symptoms decreased as well. This sense of clarity lasted for at least an hour or so, and I continue to feel good right now, so no crash and burn side effects! I will recommend to students and anyone who needs the ability to focus! Great Product!

I have purchased this product many times from another website. It helps me a great deal with Fibromyalgia fog. It is very effective for me. The product helps clear the brain fog, and makes it easier, for me, to focus.
