Saregama Carvaan Hindi Portable Music Player - Sound by Harman/Kardon with 5000 Preloaded Songs, FM/BT/AUX (Rose Gold)

Nice quality worth buying!

Pros: Great collection of 5,000 songs nicely categorized. Simple design. I love the Geethmala programs that are loaded. If you love old Hindi songs, you should probably buy. The sound quality from the speakers is good. Pure nostalgia listening to these songs. Cons: - Pathetic Customer service/support, I am afraid if this stops working, I don't think I could get it repaired even though it comes with the one year warranty, I will probably have to junk it. I called customer service a few times, very poor response, they ask me to leave my email id and someone will respond. Nobody replies to the email. - The app refuses to pair with the Caravaan Gold, it keeps asking for Serial number, when it is entered it keeps saying wrong Serial number try again. It looks like this is a common issue with lot of others as well. I emailed customer service who told me upgrade to latest version, they don't specify from where, because it is not available on iStore or Google play. Very frustrating. Without the app, it is very hard to jump to the song you want to hear with the controls or the remote. - The AM and FM radio reception is terrible, I don't think it has a good receiver, even with the provided antenna, the quality is not great at all. - The buttons to pick the artist, specials and to skip a song make a loud "tick" sound, if you want to listen while relaxing, it kind of disturbs the others if you want to skip a song, I would have preferred a softer touch. - There is no timer to set so you can go to sleep and don't have to be awake to turn it off. - The adapter wire for power outlet and charging is too short and looks very cheap and flimsy. This may be okay for the older generation who may not be tech savvy and just want to listen to songs serially but for the not so old folks who still love the old music, this is not up there. I would have given it a higher rating with better customer support and if the app worked. I feel it is a little overpriced for all the shortcomings that are noted. If you already have a good collection of the Hindi songs that is available to you, it may be worth just investing in a good Bose speaker instead.

Decent product. Really for those that don’t own a smart phone and/or don’t want to use a phone and have a device specifically for music only. Had a hard time registering on the app.

It’s really nice who can’t connect very well with internet

The rose gold model promises the ability to play using the carvaan app. However when I tried to connect using the serial number, I was told that it cannot connect because it has already exceeded the maximum number of subscribers (4) on the particular serial number. If this product is new and I am the Owner, I fail to understand how there are other subscribers already. This seems to be a scam. I reached out to Saregama via the email listed and their help desk keeps asking me my name, address, and various personal particulars rather than resolving the issue.

Sound quality

We bought it and found within one month that it was defective as it was playing the same songs over again. we contacted Amazon. We were asked to contact the manufactors as the reterning window was missed by a weak. unfortunately there is no response from them as yet ! We would not recommand this product to anyone as it is a lemon in our opinion.

Was nice till it worked - for a few months. Then all of a sudden it didn't. It has been less than a year. Now it only plays Geetmala no matter what option I select. Bluetooth also has issues. I can pair it with my iPhone but when I play anything in the SareGaMa App on iphone it does not find any devices (although it is paired) to play.

Sturdy and good product originally from India with the same price sold locally.

Very poor quality hardware, whenever turn this on, only play geetmala . Even change the artists, nothing changed. This is greedy company, with big name of hmv. Very slow processing, even on app it has big lag, . Don’t buy this product. Too expensive for very lower chor bazar type quality.

This review is for gold version! Saregama Carvaan Portable Digital Music Player is a good product for people who enjoy old songs. It comes in two versions: with Harman Kardon speakers (price ~15k) and or ordinary speakers (price ~4K). Harman Kardon is a renowned brand for speakers and hence the price is very high for this color. Hardware: Old songs are stored on a inbuilt sd card that can't be changed ( I think 16gb sd card). It has inbuilt battery so that you can use while on the move and it works well. It also acts as a bluetooth speaker where you can play music from your phone. It has a inbuilt radio but the reception is not that great..if you have lot of interference then radio does not works well. You can also connect Saregama Carvaan with saragama phone app to change songs. There is a remote that comes with it to change the artist and sound. You can also use the remote to change to radio mode and tune channels. Software: It has a digital display where it displays the singer and the song that is playing. The songs are arranged with respect to artists and few more modes. There is a round rotating button that is used to change the singer. Sound quality: The Harman Kardon speakers on this model is good but they are not very loud. My JBL flip easily outperforms the speakers built in Saregama Carvaan. Overall I like the Saregama Carvaan in terms of design, functionality and quality. I will recommend it to my friend!! ADVICE: To improve radio reception quality buy a 3.5mm audio cable of 1m length and plug it in the aux port of Saragama and hang the aux cable appropriately.

Bought this with a view that it will be great on sound with HK speakers but it was a big disappointment. To add to the disappointment the device did not connect to the saregama app as the serial no showed error and contacting Saregama helpline was of no use. Had to finally return it.
