Zebco 404 Spincast Fishing Reel,

Been using spinning rods and reels my whole life. A friend recently gave me a nice spin casting rod so I needed a reel for it. Not knowing if I would like using a spin casting rig I didn't want to buy an expensive reel, so I chose the Zebco 404. Turned out to be a great choice. Solid, smooth, and fast retrieve ratio for a spin cast reel. Just had to take off the junk line that was on it. But always have to do that with any pre-spooled reel i've bought. For the money you can't beat this reel. I would definately buy or recommend and buy another one of these reels.

Good reel for a kid, the metal gears help since the older version had plastic gears that didn't do so well. Haven't caught a fish yet but we shall see.

I’ve been using the 404 since childhood and it has never, and I mean never, failed me…. I absolutely will not fish with any other type of reel on the market period…. I’ve had so many folks trying to sell me on different reel brands and I’m adamant about the quality of the 404. In my 60 years on this earth and fishing since I was 4 years old - I can’t even begin to guess how many fish I’ve caught in my lifetime but it’s been a lot and caught some very large fish with this reel as well - Always dependable and cast right where I want it placed, lightweight and durable - Zebco made a trusted solid product when they made the 404 and I won’t fish with anything else period. I’ve tried the 202, 33 and 808 and they just do not do the job that the 404 does…. Those came in combo packs I’ve bought in the past and every one of those is sitting on the shelf now - used the rods and put 404 reels on them and gave to the Grandkids…. Stick with old reliable 404…. Awesome product that has stood the test of time…

Great product

I bought the 404 for bass and pike. It had a good day fishing, then it seemed to degrade in performance rapidly. Two more days fishing was all she could give. The price was cheap enough so I wasn't disappointed. The 15 lb line is, in my opinion, too bulky for the 404. The retrieve is a nice ratio for rubber worms, however it is noisy and I could feel the gears working. Casting became difficult as the reel would stop itself mid cast every other cast.

What can you say, its a Zebco. They are shockingly strong and reliable. Got 2 for my grandfather paired them with 2 Berkley Fusion rods. They fit his rugged style of fishing perfectly. You can drop them on the bank and not worry about them. My only recommendation is that you change the line to you favorite brand before use.

Threw this on an old pole, and use for catfish. Fishing in a medium lake, I use this as my catfish pole while I fish for bass. Never had any issue with the reel and can handle any size fish i can catch.

La calidad ZEBCO se nota. Funciona sin problema, buena capacidad.

This a pretty good real for the price, for those that only fish a few times a year this reel will get it done. It comes with 15lb test line which is good, I did change it out with 12lb line just a little more supple and maybe little more casting distance. I have taken it apart and added a little more lube, it has lube on the gears I just like to have a bit more. All in all a solid reel for low cost.
