Good texture and mid tones
I’ve always loved this paper, I’ve used it for years and the quality is consistent, it has a good tooth for grabbing color and is strong enough to allow building up of color and shadow. Graphite, colored pencil, and pastel, not suitable for pen and ink.

Surface
I’ve used Carson Mi Tientes for many years. I would advise trying both the smoothest & bumpy sides to see what effect you want to achieve. With the bumpy side, it takes a lot of pastel to fill in the low spots if you want a smoother surface. It provides a different effect which can be interesting. The smooth surface uses less pastel. Both sides offer opportunities for shading & combined coloration. Great value for someone who paints a lot.

The shipment shows the quality of the product.
The pad is really cool by the tones, the size and the texture is awesone, but the sheets of the block were not made entirely well, the content overflowed from the flap of the cover. It seems to me that this shows a lack of professionalism of the brand or the shipment. The sheets should be hidden under the cover completely. I ask that you please send it without any possible defect, since like every artist, a project is worked in detail and well, so it is necessary to have the material in good condition to achieve it.

great paper for pastels and color pencils - have also used with oils, when using oils, I have misted the paper lightly with a matte sealer - I usually mist about 4-5 times VERY light mist, so in well ventilated are - garage (with no car, don't want to get on car), mist by moving hand back and forth about 12"-15" over the paper to let the mist fall lighty on to paper, then let dry in between pastel colors are very light giving a nice background to your artwork

Very nice paper
The pastel paper was beautiful and it has a really nice tooth to it. I used it for a chalk pastel piece and it did wonderfully. I’ve used this brand before, but with the smaller size years ago. Our local art supply store went out of business and I’ve had a very difficult time getting my regular pastel paper and usually I like to look at the paper I’m buying. This is a great alternative that I might have to continue if Michael’s doesn’t get their act together.
