This is a good alternative to adding actual dates in a smoothie. IMO, dates taste better than the syrup, but with the syrup you don't get little remaining pieces at the bottom of your glass. I also use the syrup in my iced tea, not so much to make it taste that sweet, but to counteract the bitterness of the tea. If I add too much syrup, it can start to taste a little like molasses, which I don't care for. It was trial and error, but a moderate squirt of syrup in my glass seems to be perfect. To quickly dissolve the syrup into the tea, I use a battery operated handheld frother/whisk, which works perfectly. I start by adding a couple inches of tea in a glass, a squirt of syrup, blend well, then add ice and the rest of the tea.

Nice addition to my cooking and baking ingredients. Not too sweet.

I am a sweets person so to cut down on sugar this is a great alternative. I have used in my oatmeal and cream of wheat so far and it has not disappointed. I want to try it in my coffee next. Nice smooth, sweet silky texture.
