This limited edition Sign Painters DVD includes over 30 minutes of bonus materials, and features cover art designed and hand brushed by Bob Behounek. Edition of 1000 Review: Excellent Look Into This Amazing Talent - As the wife of a very creative and talented sign painter who specializes in gold leaf, I can promise you will not be disappointed by this glimpse into the design, lettering, and gold leafing of thousands of signs we see everyday. The signs are the from the tiniest door signs to the huge billboard signs. Through many interviews with successful sign painters you will walk into this creative world where the painter is the designer, artist, letterer, and approver of thousands of styles of signs, and it also explains how many fonts have come into use. The film also shows the beautiful, precise pinstriping which is painted on boats, ships, cars, and all sorts of vehicles. This wonderful documentary will make you wish you could pick up some brushes, paints, and gold leaf sheets and begin this very specialized career yourself. Highly recommend watching this if you are interested in a most beautiful art form, creativity, and gold leaf affects on signs and/or vehicles and boats. Review: Spotlight on an art that's not given much attention. - Very interesting film about the people behind the signs you see every day and about the craft and the unfortunate rise in computer-generated vinyl signs. It really gives you an appreciation for the art of hand painted signs and the artists who create them. Although I've heard that hand painted signs are making a comeback. Maybe soulless, bland signs aren't so great after all.

Informational
Great book for starting to sign. Has great ideas for different lettering and suggestions to use. I enjoy reading this book and looking at the different lettering ideas.

As a sign artist, the film really gave me a sense of belonging to the spectrum of the art of signs. I was very pleased to see that the Director and its producers invested into the diligence and the intelligence of capturing the romance relationship between the sign painter and his craft. This film mixed the colors needed to project the story and personality of each master sign painter in the medium and along his or her journey displayed on the billboard of their progressive expression. Unfortunately the film only captured a few of the many street artist campaigning across america, but it would be impossible to give every deserving sign artist a cameo. Never the less, the film pounced a perfect representation of the "signs of our time" and that alone, is worth the leveling of appreciation!

Art, Advertising, Antiques. If you love any of these, watch it!
Great doc about an art that has slowly faded from the American landscape. I hope it accomplishes it's goal of turning more people on to this beautiful line of work. Mike Myer was the real star of this show. Maybe it's the bibs, maybe it's the cigar...maybe it's his uncanny resemblance to President Taft, but something about him just makes you want to go back in time. Glad I watched this. You should too.

Loved It!
I loved watching this! It's very interesting, informative and inspiring to anyone who is creative. I want to watch it again! I would even like to see a sequel made of this, showing more signs and featuring some additional cities and sign painters. Thanks for making this.

Got it for a friend who does pinstriping and is an accomplished sign painter. His review was positive and enthusiastic. Not having seen it I will have to leave it there.

Also absolut empfehlenswert. Gruss M By chance I came across the book and film by Faythe Levine & Sam Macon. Since I am a trained sign painter myself, so "sign painter" from Germany, and I was lucky to learn at the beginning of the 90s with 2 old masters of the Signpainting, I have to access here and was not disappointed. Lovingly made, well produced and very well photographed, the book and film make it a lot of fun. Not only for people who practice the craft or have done it once, but for all crafts and art enthusiasts. The changes in industry have almost made this profession in its original form extinct. Fortunately, there is backbone for working with the hands, and I'm pleased. The film rekindled the desire for this work for me, and although I am still active in the advertising technology industry (with PC, plotter and printer), I created a board in my workshop and do Signpainter again. So absolutely recommendable. greetings M
