Kassandra Kelly's book on encaustics is a compelling view into the world of wax and pigment art. You will soon find yourself heading down the rabbit hole she references as she clearly shares with you her sagacious well researched methods through most of your senses. There are so many recipes and options. The live links to material sources and reference material are especially helpful. Lots of cost saving tips too,a must have!

Lots of useful information. I have read a lot of books on encaustic art and learned a lot from each one but this one is definitely the icing on the cake. Wish it had more photos but hey, for the money it costed the information was far more important. Thanks Kassandra.. I checked out your blog many times before.. This book has plenty of information that a beginning encaustic painter will want to know. If you are high on creativity and low on cash this book gives you the knowledge you need to make your own encaustic paints in colors you really want at half the price. It will be a much used reference book in my library!

Most of us at one time or another have been mesmerized by dripping candle wax. Little did I know at that time, that this was an ancient art form. Encaustics combines the love of bees (or not), blending of color, creative spirit, and love of art. Seeing what can come of combining these elements is a wonderful thing. Ms. Kelly has woven the elements of the history of encaustics with the basic components of the creative process in an easy and entertaining book. This book is filled with information on how to start a project from scratch (especially beneficial for those watching their finances), to creating a finished piece of art, including information on materials, methods, tools, and examples of finished products. Whether you plan to take on encaustics or not, you will find this an enjoyable wealth of information, and well worth a look.

Being new to the world of encaustic art, I wanted to find a book packed full of information, not projects. This book is utterly brilliant! Written with wit by a self effacing author, it is not only massively informative on all things encaustic, but it’s also funny and lighthearted. I am now truly a Kassandra Kelly fan!

I have limitied time as I work several jobs a week so my studio time is precious. This book is an enjoyable, generous, accessible book filled with time, money and energy saving insights and wisdom. It's is written in the style of open and warm conversation so it is easy to read as I feel like I'm having an interesting conversation with a friend who has a wealth of experience and practical knowledge under her belt. A welcome addition to my encaustic library and definately a good investment.
