Substantial looking. One gets exactly what the description says one will get such as no battery compartment cover. Therefore, that wasn't an unpleasant surprise. Waving apparatus works fine. Really like the red pillow it sits on, which may help keep the batteries in place. I don't ascribe to the belief in this artifact's powers to bring wealth, happiness, health or anything else "lucky", but this item intrigued me. I have it sitting on a glass shelf above my computer desk. One thing I added to it is I painted the abacus beads white to make them more well-defined and detailed.
