I was having some noise in the rear differential. Drained all the gear oil and added the 85w-140. So far, no noise

I do My Own Yard Work
I do my own yard work ever since I retired for mainly three reasons. One it gets me out of the house and I get a lot of exercise as I have a large residential lot. Second I do a better job than any service I employed over the years; I get it done when it is needed, I do more, I don't contaminate my plantings by using tools that carry fungus and other damaging things from other yards as services do. And thirdly, being retired I am saving hundreds of dollars a month. I also maintain all my own equipment which entails a number of tools powered by gasoline engines and electric motors. Tools that have gearboxes, shaft drives, cutting edges and in general moving parts, this Valvoline High Performance SAE 85W-140 Conventional Gear Oil does an excellent job of keeping them lubricated. I recommend it.

Great price - Trusted Brand
I have use Valvoline oil products for years (decades really) in my cars. I needed this gear-lube for a rototiller transmission job. I couldn't find the exact product I needed locally.....and the closest type was twice the price! So far everything works great and the rototiller is ready for garden season!

Good product, questionable shipping..
Good product but I don't know whats going on with the Amazon shipping personnel. Second oil product that was shipped to me without the spout top on it, and this one's seal was seaping a bit.. Luckily it didn't leak all over everything in the box!

great value
I got this to replace the oil in the rear axle on my truck. I used this along with the limited slip additive. Easy job, just wish that the pouring tip was a little longer, so that I could angle the container steeper while still keeping the tip inside the filler hole.

Good gear oil for GM posi rear ends: 80W-90 and 85W-140 depending on application and situation
I have used 80W-90 and 85W-140 in rear diff axles. In almost all situations I use 80W-90 but for my 2000 Trans Am I opted for the 85W-140 as it is a Torsen type diff and many others with those rear diffs complain about wine noise that can be cured with the heavier weight oil. I can confirm the heavier weight 85W-140 solves the wine noise issue. I also always add the GM additive (GM #1052358 / AC Delco #88900330) for posi rear ends.
