The 3/16" grid is heavy enough to see but not so overwhelming that it's distracting when writing. The inside of the front cover has a place for your National Park Passport Stamp and the back has a handy 5" scale as well as some history of the park. The beautiful illustration on the front cover (see the attached photo) is the Zion Narrows on the Virgin River, a place I have been to a few times and is a must see for all. The series A pack also includes Yosemite and Acadia National Parks and the additional Field Notes in the series cover many of the most iconic parks in the nation. I admit the park series is what spurred me to buy these but now that I see them in person they really are made well and entirely USA made. The look and feel is great and I can't wait to see how they look in a few months after taking notes in the rain and after carrying them in my hip pocket. I'm betting they'll look even better!
